I think the 285s are also a heavier tire on the pavement so they will likely take a bigger hit to mileage if that is a factor outside of the needed cab chopping. @Lots2Learn58 has the 255 BFG MTs so he can chime in better here.

Whenever I get around to a lift, I'd like to avoid chopping anything. Are the 255s going to be the only way to go? Are there any big advantages or disadvantages between the 255s and 285s?

Imho a regear for 33's (or 32.5's which is more along what most 285's run) is a complete waste of funds. Sure it gives more bottom end, but honestly it's way overkill. It's like buying full lt to cruise the mall with...

If you don't want to chop, then go 255's. They are a skinnier tire and are 33.1 inches vs the 285s are wider which is why you need to trim the cab mounts and are 32.8 inches in height. Its up to you...I went LT so I had to chop regardless to not blow up.

I'm leaning toward 255 and have noticed that the choices are severely limited vs 285s.

I have a quote email out to ECGS right now. Just for gears and no air lockers. I have seen others done for $1900. So thats what I am aiming for.

Sure, ill help! I just did my pads a couple weeks ago. My rotors were still in good condition.

How..? With no lockers, that seems about right. Probably not 1600, but closer to 2000.

If you get the TW discount gears only are right at the 2k mark plus tax. But who wants to just do gears? If you are going to open up 3rd members might as well throw a locker or 2 in.

Having someone pumping the brakes while the bleeder valve is open is easiest. A third person up front to keep an eye on the brake resi is even better. If i was ever able to get a hold of the mongoose cable, the techstream will do that for you if i remember correctly.

I just got off the phone with Steven at ECGS. He quoted me $1875 installed for 4.56 front and rear. If I wanted the front locker installed its an additional $875, with no more labor. :D:D:D

Remember I have the e-locker rear already

@fatfurious2 i am gonna hold off doing the coilover install for now. Either spring when it warms up or ill sell, still not 100% either way. If you want help with your spark plugs you can stop by tomorrow. Theyre pretty easy so it shouldn't take long.

You don't think 4.56 is going to be over geared for 33's?

Lot of guys run 4.56 for 35's.

Hmmmmmmm......that would be WAY more ideal instead of having to spend two days commuting back from ECGS David.

Its the front and rear gears, I think in a different casings.
    4.56 for 33s, 4.88 for 35s. I have no plans of doing 35s
