Cant get that download to work... seems like spyware with all the pop-ups involved. The calc's on wallaceracing.com are nice, but with my sheet you dont have to keep filling out an HTML calculator and writing them down. And I didn't see one that accounted for tire size, gear ratio, trans ratio and rpm and gave you speed.

Depends on what rear you have. The 8" and 8.4 have a few options. The only option I've seen for the 8.75 so far is the ARB air locker.

$200 per diff is REALLY cheap. Does that include removing the diffs from the truck and reinstalling them too?

    Absolutely.

I had the stock 3.91s and 285/70R17s and the truck was so sluggish, the trans didn't know what gear it wanted to be in, and I was getting awful fuel mileage. It's also very heard on the trans to run too tall of a gear, constant shifting, higher fluid temps, etc. The last thing the speed auto in these trucks need is higher loads and temps.

Since installing the 4.88s I enjoy the truck so much more. It's downright zippy around town, can hold 6th gear on the highway again and I picked up 3-4 MPG.

I'm a little biased because I own an offroad shop that does a lot of axle work and am a distributor for half a dozen different gear manufacturers, but regearing is by far the biggest bang for the buck you can do in a truck with oversized tires. $3k-3500 is pretty high for a regear, I'd think $2500-3k would be reasonable, even for CA.

Where in NorCal are you? I may know a good shop in the area who will give you a fair price.

He's a friend, and no that with the diffs already out.

I've been in business for about 10 years and can tell you a dirty little secret of the drivetrain business. There are only 3-4 factories making gears for everyone. For the most part, they're all the same gears in different color boxes. There are manufacturers in the US, Italy, Korea and India. The vast majority of quality aftermarket gears are coming from Korea and you can find them in boxes from a dozen different companies.

Nitro's 8.75" 4.88s are being made exclusively for them by a Korean manufacturer, that's why they're the only ones with them for now. I've talked to 2 other companies who are having tooling made for them, so I'd expect to see other companies selling them by summer.

Feel free to PM me with any specific gear/axle questions. Like I said, I've been in the business for years and am a distributor for all the major brands. If you have any problems I've probably seen it before, and am happy to help out wherever I can.

That's not bad at all. Most shops charge at least 4-5 hours per diff. You must be a good friend. :)

Another I forgot to mention is Cloakworks right in Sacramento. They're good friends so if you call them make sure to tell them Mike from Globex sent you. We're a good customer of Metalcloak, their sister company.

What are the cheapest prices you guys have found? I need a full install kit for the front and just a ring and pinion for the rear.

Any feedback on the Auto's with the 4.56 or the 4.88 I see alot of happy people with the 4.88 but I am only running 265/70's and the biggest I will go is the 285's when these are ready for replacement. I heard the 4.56 is the right gear for us.

Also anyone know a good shop in LA?

I have a question, has anyone that has regeared to 4.88's had this eliminate the dreaded 2100-2300 rpm vibration? Just curious,
