Did you try adjusting the compression settings?

Yeah, the full OME BP-51 kit came with the CS047R Leaf Springs. I'll find out they can remove a leaf spring.

I have played around with the compression settings. Right now compression is @ 0 on front and back with 7 clicks of rebound on the back and 8 on the front. Any lower than that and the ride got bouncy. It's what the suggested on the install if you don't have a shell or custom bumper and winch.

On another note the ride height is cool (@ 2.5") but, I don't mind going lower if it means the ride will soften up.

FYI, just talked to ARB and as far as removing leaf springs, they said you can remove the 3RD leaf from the top to soften the ride.

No need for LCA for alignment purposes unless you are going to a longer travel setup. I haven't encountered a Firestone tech yet that I didn't have to "guide" through alignment 101. I'm thankful for the fancy Hunter alignment technology which superscedes human brainpower every time I go to Firestone...

I definitely recommend getting all of the weight you plan on up front (literally) then using some guidelines and experience in this thread to adjust one time only. It's not a 30 minute job.

Based on my ride height and ride quality at 5mm front, if you top out the coilover height adjustment at 0mm, you would still get 2-2.5in lift, and the ride would be firmer than OE TRD OR, which would be ideal for minimal weight added.

The ride quality shines on this suspension when the truck has some aftermarket weight, which makes sense, that's how the OME BP-51 was designed and tested.

Any reason any of you all would think to increase the preload over 20 mm? I'm hoping to get closer to 3" front lift with aluminum bumper and skid (80 lbs) and soon adding a 60 lb winch. Would leaving it at factory preload yield a specific amount of lift with this weight per you guys' experiences?

Firestone is GARBAGE for good alignment, for little toe adjustments they are fine. Get your alignment done at a REAL alignment shop. BP51s and SPC UCAs. Initial Alignment was knocked out of wack at an offroad park.

    FYI

You'll likely loose about 1/4" of ride height for the weight of the sliders.

You should easily get 3 with that much weight.

Agree 100%. The 20mm setting is for you.

I have an SSO Slimline front bumper at 55lbs plus Warn 10-s (heavier than your 60lb winch by far), just waiting for time to install, so I'll have another data point as well for the forum soon.

Just had all the adjustments done. Went down to 5mm preload on the front and removed a leaf. Night and day difference! My truck now has that nice soft feel in the suspension like I like. Can't wait to go really test it out on the mountain roads. I've had the compression down to 0 so, it will be nice to now be able to have some wiggle room to adjust the feel.

One little caveat is the front is now a bit lower than the rear. I expected this but, it was nice to have everything level. Is there anything else I can adjust in the rear to even things out? Again, it's no big deal. I'm just happy with how my truck feels now.

    Thanks everyone for you help!

Hey all, just wanted to provide another data point for this thread. Had my kit installed recently, with aluminum front bumper and skid, no winch yet. Front preload is set at 15 for passenger side, 17 for driver. Hub to fender is right at 23" both sides, which is about 3" lift for a 2nd gen. Seems like others stating more than 3" at factory OME preload of 20 mm are right.

Can anyone confirm how long it took to install the kit? I found a place near me that will rent me a lift bay and tools, but I need to estimate the time needed. They have a special; 6 hours for 200$. I installed the ome struts on myXterra. I think I can install the front struts and uca on my taco in like 2 hours... but have now clue about the rear leaf.
