    • No, I am not the original owner. I bought the truck from a small dealership. I've only had the car for two years and when I bought it, the mileage was 114,000 miles.
    • I changed the oil roughly every 6,000 miles and used conventional oil.
    Thanks for your reply.

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. No, I wasn't the original owner. I bought it from a small dealership with 114,000 miles. I'm honestly not sure what caused the issue, as I don't drive "wild" and I always checked the oil/oil changes. I put about 10,000 miles on the truck since I've had it in these past two years.

    2. Your absolutely right that the price of the install is pretty near what the whole truck is worth. I did think about starting fresh, but since my truck is paid off I wanted to avoid starting new payments. Also, the rest of the truck is in terrific shape (exterior, interior) besides the motor.
Many people think it's much newer than a 2005 and they are surprised when I tell them how old it is. I'll post pictures when I receive my truck back (thursday or friday of this week). I made this decision because basically it made the most financial sense (also sentimentally I love my truck).

Thanks for the kind words and reply.

Just to give you a heads up for the future:

It sounds like you ran the motor low on oil, the motor lost oil pressure and locked up or caused serious damage. They probably tried to restart the motor, if it did start ,i'm sure it's making some terrible noises and has no oil pressure, even after they topped it off (due to the now very open bearings).

The light you speak of is an oil pressure light. They usually come on around 4psi or so, by the time that light is on, it's too late, your motor is probably trashed, especially if you are cruising along the highway and it loses oil pressure. There is no "low oil" light on these motors. Your motor was most likely either burning or leaking oil (or both).

Just keep an eye on that oil level with teh new motor.

Thank you so much for the response. The original idea behind the thread was for me to learn more about the truck as I'm not mechanically savvy in an effort to avoid future problems. I will keep an eye on the oil level, thanks for the advice. Thanks also for explaining the oil pressure light. I honestly thought it turned on when the oil was low, not when the pressure was low. Now I know! Would there be a reason that a leak from one motor would carry on to the next? Would connecting parts cause this?

Meh. Likely replaced more than any other member on this forum. Which in itself isna bold statement.

It is fun. Runs great. Needs a good tune. Makes more power than stock.

if using conventional oil, i would be changing it more so 3-4k miles. as if you forget to check your oil level at least this will help somewhat. being a new engine, i would also switch to syn after you break it in.
