I noticed that the smittybilt RTT will collect some water on the rain flap over the front door. Do other models do this also or is this a design flaw in smittybilt?

Zac - all those style RTT's (with the exposed ladder) suffer from that design 'flaw'. Feels so good to have the cold water pour down your back first thing in the morning ;-)

Or just give the pool of water a little jab and clear it away?

Finally was able to try out the Tuff Stuff RTT with the annex room. Overall for the price it worked for what I needed it for. I slept comfortably with 2 people in the tent (2 total)
I woke in the middle of the night to rain pounding on the tent and no leaks! There was a noticeable difference in temperature between the tent and the annex room. The low for that night was 32-33ish and I slept comfortably with only a few blankets and one of them was a down.

The annex worked very well and like all accessories they take some time to setup. When it was raining I did notice water inside the annex floor in the middle of the night. The way I had it setup I was on a hill and I think there water was running down the zipper at the top of the hill then it would drip into the Annex. All the zippers are covered with a flap so I think it was my error when I set it up.

Overall for the price and what you get I am extremely happy with it. Time will tell with durability.

They did not have those items when I purchased mine back in November. The floor of the annex is removable which makes it easy to clean and if you were on a beach it might be nice to remove as well.
The awning seems to be my next item so I do not need to cart around the pop up but not sure if I want to mount it to the side of the tent. It would stick out further and need to be removed every time I take it off the truck. Just need like a quick disconnect from the tent. The pricing from Tuff Stuff is very aggressive.

I agree! I have been looking at Smittybilt tents but i feel like the tuff stuff maybe a better deal with the annex and everything else it comes with.

Make sure to air dry the tent ASAP so it doesn't mold. Also, is that a Colorado with the duramax?

I tried to find the cheapest RTT available, not because I didn't want to spend the money its just its over 1K for a damn tent lol. I had a truck bed tent in my last truck that worked awesome and it was only 160 bucks. Some of the metal eyes that I put the window openers/ spring rod through are separating from the material but that is only aesthetic. I plan on using the tent a lot this summer so that will be the true test for me.

Yeah I had a break in the rain before I left for home and tried to get all the water off, then I opened it up in the garage for awhile. Still needs to probably sit overnight opened but I have a car I am working on in there. I left the zipper open on the cover and hopefully it will provide enough venting until I can get the car out.

Yes, it does have the 2.8 Duramax

I would highly suggest you ooen it up all the way and let it air out some more, moisture likes to hide in all the nooks amd crannies

I haven't decided yet. Once the Prinsu racks come in (just got notice they should be shipping on Friday) I will be able to mount pretty much wherever. I will have to figure out what works best for my application. Don't worry there will be more pictures than a spoiled only child on Christmas day...

the only thing i really found to work with my Retrax is the TracRac SR looks like this

    https://www.***********************...eau-cover-with-tracrac-sr-truck-bed-rack.html

    https://www.************************/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/t/r/tracrac_full_spread_with_retrax_one.jpg

little bit pricey, but i'm looking for something like this that i can take on an off when i need my RTT and still keep my Retrax on.

Check this rack out. It doesn't have the height of that one but the price is much cheaper and you can still use your tonneau with it. I just got one for my RTT. I haven't mounted my tent yet on it but the rack is very well made and extremely solid. Takes about 30 seconds to pop the rails off if you want to use the bed.

Hey, Mr. Orasanu is now an ambassador for Freespirit Recreation tents... I can ask him to get you a price on one if you want.
