If I am driving our Lexus I will normally set the cruise on 80 with a 75 mph limit. I don't feel as confident in the Tacoma and will stay at the speed limit.

What really bothers me is my 2nd gen would hold 80 all day long.

No use looking in the rear view. Sorry if I missed this but you drove the 2017 manual before you ordered it and it performs adequately for your typical driving conditions, right?

I drove a manual AC sport and yes it met my expectations. It all comes down to that I want to chose what gear I'm in. Not saying I won't have to downshift during interstate travel at times in the manual, but it won't be shifting 10 times in a mile like my auto. I have no data to back this up but my gut tells me the auto transmission will have a shortend life due to all of the shifting.

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
Just curious if you put the center dash on real time mpg at 75-80 mph in the manual.

I just wonder how it's gas mileage would be at that speed.

Anything over 3000 rpms is not good for transmission, transfer case,or the motor. If I set cruise control at 75mph on my truck the rpms almost red line on a 2017. Dealership said for me not to use the cruise control. :censored:

The cruise control algorithm just compounds the transmission problems I'm having. If i manually try to maintain the speed, this truck isn't too bad. With cruise control it's terrible...its too late to react, then it overreacts, then it looses its mind and doesn't know what to do.

20170227_160556.jpg I'm in love. I ordered my truck February 3rd and it showed up today. I had about an hour and a half drive to go pick it up so I was able to give my automatic one last chance. I will say that I couldn't get rid of that thing fast enough. After driving this manual for a limited time i can say that auto was a Monumental piece of shit. The manual is on a whole new level. It's hard to explain until you drive one but it's like a completely different truck.

Congrats! Really happy to hear that this was worth doing. MT with LB would make me really tempted.

The best thing is I can unsubscribe from the automatic transmission TSB rev 1, 1.1, 1.2, 2 blah blah blah thread.

On my way to pick up my new truck i took a video of my old truck with cruise trying to hold 77mph on very level ground with a 5 to 10 mph headwind. You will see it spent most of its time in 4th gear. Shifted to 5th once for a brief moment. Not going to miss that.

this is exactly what my truck will do....even after the "update"....i feel like thats why my gas mileage is so low too because it cruises at a higher rpm

That console looks way different than mine. The 3 dials that control the AC/Heater and stuff. Did they change them in the 2017 OR?

I think Premium and Tech Package might be different from ones without.
