    Steer/cow manure that has been composted doesn't have much smell. Definitely way over played. If these boys knew what they were doing, they'd have used fish emulsion. Not that I know anything about its alternative uses other than plant fertilizer...

    It has a distinct odor. But it's not putrid.

    Fish emulsion on the other hand...
    take fish guts, soaked in the sun for a few days, liquify in a blender. Add water to the consistency of syrup. Bottle it.
    It really is great plant fertilizer (readily available at HD). But dogs love to roll in it... especially annoying dogs that bark all night and all day...

    Ugh. Fish emulsion is the worst. I usually try to give the plants a dose right before we have a few days of rainy weather. Putting it down before a sunny day is just horrible.
