    Hello.

I have 2004 prerunner with 165k miles. I am sure there are post/threads about this, but should i use synthetic or just normal oil. Best oil out there? TIA.

I use Mobil-1 Synthetic with the Toyota OEM YZZD3 oil filter but it really doesn't matter on a vehicle of this age. German cars and modern cars almost exclusively use synthetic nowadays.

If your truck is using regular and you decide to switch to synthetic, make sure to replace the crush washer and bolt because it might leak. The consistency on synthetic oils are thinner, so if your truck is used to regular oil, then it might leak in some places.

Thanks for the heads up. First oil change since I got the truck. Will probably just stay with regular oil. Also trying to decide if I want to put some sea foam in the oil before I change it but not sure if I want to. I don't to cause some leaks that aren't there. Heard that it can knock off some sludge that might be clogging holes. Make sense?

    198k miles. 2.7L , AT, Prerunner

    Always used regular Dino oil
    Oem filter
    7500 mile change interval

No leak and doesn't burn a single drop of oil

All my other car runs synthetic but my gen 1 runs Dino

Use whatever makes you happy, everyone has different options on this. I swear by Valvoline and Castrol. Others dont. Some say dino others say blend, others say full syn.

"Dino" is short for dinosaur. So in other words, dino oil is any oil made from crude oil or petroleum. It's also called "mineral" oil. The 'dino" name is based on the fact that crude oil is the leftovers from dinosaurs and other plants and animals that lived and died millions of years ago.

I have used penzoil 10w30 "5w30 recommended but book says either" in my truck from 30k miles to ~240k that I have on it now. Around 200k I started replacing 1/2qt with marvel mystery oil. I change my oil every 5-6k.
