I posted about a week ago about a terrible ride the rear of the truck had, well i think i figured out a bit more about what happened, back in 2015 i changed out the front suspension and the shocks in the rear, the front is still going strong and rides great, at the time the leaf springs didnt look like they were in need of replacement, but, i think that they either got weaker since that time, or were worse off then i thought. and basically i have been using the shocks for that time for most of the work. cause when i took off one end of the shocks to test things out, the leafs sagged to the point of being near flat.

So, i have searched around the site, and a lot of info exists for people wanting a lift, but precious little exists for those who do not. The ones that seem to come up are springs from general and ome springs, although when i googled those they also appeared to be dakar springs and people said to stay away from them.

So i was wondering, what springs and shocks for the rear do people recommend for a person who wants no lift, i am aware that i will get some from just putting back on a set of good working springs. but i want to avoid going past what the truck would have been from the factory, or at least stay as close as possible to that.

And what all should i get as replacement parts while im working on that area? Plus if anyone has any tips on what im getting into.

Rearch the old springs and get new shocks. Cheapest route.

There is a recall on the leaf springs. Maybe you can get a freebie set.

As for the shocks. Three years ago I replaced the original Tokico shocks with Bilsteens. Bad call. The ride sucks! In the summer I'm going back to the Tokicos.

Last summer I used Icon AAL rear springs( 3leafs) & removed the bottom factory overload spring- Ended up about 1" - 1 1/2" high in rear with new Monroe gas shocks- Now it sits maybe 3/4 " high in the rear & Level with small load.
