Thanks for offering to measure, but not necessary. I talked to TC and the measurements they listed are from bump to u-bolt strike plate while in "ride travel" mode. This is useful information to me so I should now be able to make a direct comparison of my existing leaf pack. I image you'll be to relocating your shocks with their kit to take full advantage of the springs. I know I would. :)

I spent a fair amount of time researching. In my discoveries, I learned that wheel travel and suspension travel, while very closely related are not the same thing.

Despite this technicality, I learned that it's extremely common for manufactures and vendors to use the terms "wheel travel" and "suspension travel" interchangeably, even if they don't recognize it. The devil is in the details with these things, and that's why I think it's important to ask to better understand to help make informed decisions when truck building.

To amend and correct my previous post, the value I listed for my truck was the actual wheel travel, however I neglected to mention it was under forced articulation (flex travel mode). The measurement is only useful to me and my truck, not relevant for others.

I much better understand your decision to go SUA. Our trucks have limited uptravel to begin with, and with added weight, it only makes things worse, as you pointed out. I know you can't just slap a big u shaped spring on the top of the axle because ride height would quickly get out of control and COG issues. So by going to SUA you help balance out the equation of available uptravel and downtravel. SUA, also lowers COG, a good thing. There are a whole host of other important issues to consider and other compromises made IMO, but I certainly understand the decision much better!

I am interested in hearing your overall experience after traversing some trails.

I am particularly interested in hearing experience with trails with lots of embedded boulders / rocks. climbing obstacles, etc.

Whatever you can share would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    ...too much shit to list.
Alright guys, I was trying to keep this under wraps until it was done, but I'm trying to save myself some cash as well as anyone else that's interested. Last few overland trips made me realize how much it sucks to get shit out of the back of the bed with it fully loaded. So I've been on a mission for about a month now to build a slide system that has drawers built in. I've talked to basically every slide manufacture in the market, and I've really only found one that fits my requirements, and that is Extendo Bed. My design is loosely based off their Sportsman units: http://www.extendobed.com/scategory/all-9/

All of their units are built to order. Basically you dream it up, and they build it. What really sold me on this company is their slide is 110% extension vs 70-85% of most the other players in the market. In addition, any drawers you have built in are 100% extension up to 60". Below are two different renderings I had drawn up.

Both renderings were specifically for my truck. If you notice on the rear of the slide, I have an overhang to fit the requirements of my batteries being in the bed. And the dimensions truly are to fit my requirements for my bed. That said...they can build pretty much whatever the hell you want. Cutouts for fridges, water tanks, built in ice chest, drawers, cabinets, flip down tables, whatever the hell you want. They can build everything with weather seals for those of us that have open beds as well.
That said, in talking with the Extendo Bed, they will do package deals of 3 units or more. They don't have to be the same units by any means, so build to suite your needs. Discounts will be based on how many orders, so nothing set in stone. In addition, they are only a bout a 6 hour drive from me, so I could easily drive up there with my trailer and bring multiple units back to save on freight.
In terms of pricing, the first render above is ballpark $2200 and the second render was ballpark $3300. Not cheap by any means, but when you cmpare it to just the most basic of bedside systems at $1100 with no drawers and only 70% extension, it's not that bad. Don't expect 20% off, but they are definitely willing to work with us if there are multiple orders.

    So...anyone interested?

I'm looking at the Tenton one linked above. Not the mammoth but has good reviews.

Those look awesome. I would love to get in on that but at the moment can't justify it since we just got into the new house. But that is pretty awesome I'll have to look into them when the time comes.

You do know decked is planning on having their system out in may. Nothing comes close to that for the price.

    That looks awesome.

After getting my single drawer I can truly appreciate how effective and efficient they are. It's probably one of my favorite and satisfying additions yet. Already want another low profile setup for the fridge side.

Don't mind the absolute chaos and mess surrounding it... :anonymous:

Yes. $1000 bucks. Then add a slide for another $1100. Then my fridge won't fit with my bedrack....
Don't do the slide and I have exactly the same problem I had before...can't get to the shit in the back.

How has your ARB handled the weather and dust being that the drawer isn't sealed and has an opening at the top? I have a pair of those in the 4Runner, but inside cargo area obviously.

Oh you're talking an actual slide on top of everything? Makes sense now.
