    Hello All
Been sifting thru the sticky for lifts... way too much info!

Looking to lift truck 2-4"(leveling it as well) mainly for appearance but want to use add a leafs in the rear since I haul material and tow..

Any brands to stick with that won't break the bank?

    Anything to stay away from?

I'm reading some issues with drive angle on off road models?

    Thanks!

If you're looking just for leveling/appearance the Bilstein 5100 set does a great job; a lot of people use it here.

    Stay away from block lifts.

    Cheapest to most expensive:

    Bilstein 5100 + AAL
    OME
    Bilstein 6112/5160
    Fox/Icon/King

Search 6112 in the forums and in the suspension forums. They seem to be getting great reviews when paired with 5160s in rear. Note that you will get max about 2" of lift with these but honestly if you start going above 2" of lift you're going to have to look into Upper Control Arms and more expensive means to maintain ride quality, driveline and alignment geometry, etc.

Keep it 2" or less seems to be suggested. Also with say a progressive 3 leaf AAL you're going to have to leave Factory overload in for towing and hauling but this will make ride stiffer and harsh/bouncy without a load in the rear. You could look at airbags to assist if you leave the factory overload out? Anyway you're just talking more money in the long haul if you want to start adding all of that stuff.

Total parts cost for 6112 and 5160s in rear with 3 leaf progressive AAL will run you about $1300 to $1500 depending on where you source the parts. If you are paying a shop to install, add another $500 or so for labor and don't forget you'll need an alignment.

A key difference between the 6112 and the rest of the other kits (aside from ICON) is that they're digressive shocks, meaning that they'll be stiffer at slower speeds but softer at higher. Better for on-road.

I've read feedback in the icon lift thread here in 3rd gen forum that one guy installed Icons then tried 6112s and the 6112s rode smoother on road than the icons he tested. Some guy that drives trophy trucks. He actually said he preferred the 6112s as they rode closer to stock quality. However these are subjective opinions.

The toytec boss 2.0 are modified bilstein 5100s, which is why I didn't include them. As for the toytec 2.5, not sure who's shocks they are but they seem legit as well.
