SHREVEPORT, La. - Police chase ends in Queensborough neighborhood, suspects arrested Posted: Apr 28, 2016 10:57 AM PDT Updated: Apr 28, 2016 6:03 PM PDT A pair of suspects is behind bars Thursday afternoon following their alleged involvement in attempting to elude police in a stolen vehicle. What began as the discovery of a stolen vehicle, ended with the arrest of two teens, who left behind a trail of destruction in their attempts to *ee from police o⥵cers. Just before noon on April 28, Shreveport Police patrol o⥵cers were contacted relative to a stolen vehicle that had been spotted traveling in the 6300 block of Hearne Avenue. Information was gathered that the vehicle had been taken following a residential burglary of a home in the 9400 block of Blom Boulevard this past Tuesday. As o⥵cers approached the vehicle in eorts to conduct a tra⥵c stop, the driver of the vehicle, Kevonte D Austin, 17, of Shreveport, refused to bring the vehicle to a stop. Police say he then sped o in the 2013 Lexus sedan, headed north on Hearne Avenue. As o⥵cers continued their eorts to stop the vehicle, Austin drove onto the parking lot of the Louisiana State Fair, where he crashed the car through a cyclone fence. During continued eorts to *ee, Austin damaged at least two other cars in the nearby vicinity. O⥵cers were able to apprehend Austin after he abandoned the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Hassett Avenue and Penick Street. Austin was taken into custody with the assistance of a trained police K9. Following his capture, Austin was transported to University Health for treatment of minor injuries he sustained while *eeing from o⥵cers. One other man, Boris Williams, 18, of the 4000 block of Golf Links Boulevard in Shreveport, was a passenger in the car during the incident, and was subsequently arrested and charged with felony theft and illegal possession of stolen things. Austin, following his release from the hospital, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of aggravated *ight, four counts of property damage, four counts of hit and run, resisting an o⥵cer and a single count of illegal possession of stolen things.
