Tierra Del Sol 2017 is happening this week. It might be very crowded over there.

That's right, totally forgot about that. Wherever @Spvrtan decides I'm in as long as the day and time works out for me.

Yup. That's why I initially wanted to go to the mountains due to how much busier it might be. I'd only do it if most of the people that want to go out this weekend were more interested in Anza.

@bdis23-taco, @jeprox, @synergy10 or anyone else seeing this, so I'm free this Saturday to do a run. I'll let you guys decide. Some ideas..

Cougar Buttes (rock crawling area with various difficulties, not really a designated trail, short distance)
Cleghorn (moderate pace trail, more obstacles, shorter run distance overall); if we start this early and finish early, we could drive an hour over to Cougar Buttes.
Anza (good weather, more distance, higher speeds, more attractions along the way)

I'll be coming from San Diego if anyone wants to caravan.

Let's do anza. There are owners here that have stock tacomas and are new to this kind of hobby. They need experience before doing more difficult trails. Besides we are here to have fun. By the way what time n place if it's anza.

My friends frequent that trail, I wonder if you roll them. One has a 3rd gen 4runner, one has a turd gen Explorer and his brother-in-law has a Lexus.

It's a very easy trail. You guys won't have any problems going through it.

I'm thinking we'll run North to South. It really depends on how wild you guys want to get, which we could also decide when we first meet up. Hit some trails up North (Lower Coyote Canyon) and some around Ocotillo then shortly after that (~1p) quickly make our way down below the 78 to hit Split Mountain and the washes there (the usual.. Fish Creek, Sandstone, Diablo drop off going up, and out toward the 8 at the end of the day through some other washes). It depends on what you all want to do, we can do some touristy things, too, such as stop by some of the metal statues, hit Font's point.. we could even roll by TDS at Truckhaven but it'll be busy.

That being said, since we're going North to South, we'd probably go through Julian on the 78 (I usually go through the 8 and South to North). So depending on where you guys live in SD, we could meet off the 15 and caravan the 1.5 hours from there.

@Spvrtan what is the rated trail on some of these wild trails u mention. Do u need body armor underneath and rock sliders and 33s? Don't want to attempt if I can't get thru. JMHO

I know. I research this trail. No need to air down or use 4H.

Really depends on your driving ability, too. I've done Lower Coyote Canyon when it was dry but I've heard it's really nice right now due to all the water; there's water crossings, waterfalls, and streams all around. Most of the washes are cake. Sandstone Canyon has 1-3 small rock crawling instances due to the walls collapsing. I've never done Calcite Mine but from the pictures I've seen it is mostly just dirt and hills.
