Umm....assuming you are for real, just change the oil. It literally takes 10 minutes! Are they home 24/7?

That actually is good advice... But, I'm in the process of convincing my dad to let me change the oil myself...

I had been married for 1-1/2 years, and had bought my first house (for a whopping $3700) in 1966 when I was 20. Times change, but taxes and death are the only two things that are assured...

So, in January 2017 I had intermittent wipers installed in 2010 regular cab. I could not be happier with the upgrade! However, the steering column was not lined up correctly. My body guy Butch put the new switch in when I brought my truck in for some minor body work, and this is a picture taken at his shop the day I picked up the truck...

These pictures were taken today (Saturday, March 4, 2017) when I attempted to correct the problem myself. The GOOD NEWS is that I gained confidence in my ability to perform DIY stuff to my truck (I didn't break anything or hurt myself!). The BAD NEWS is that I took the steering column apart and put it back together like three times but it came out the same as it is in the original picture I took the day I picked up the truck at Butch's.

Here are some pictures of my column in various stages of disassembly...

    DSC_0007.jpg DSC_0008.jpg DSC_0009.jpg

And after I gave up and put it back together for good...

Yes, I would use a relay and juice the new horns directly off the battery. The stock horn circuit then becomes the signal source for that relay

I am a sucker for oldies songs, and I was listening to a song by Billie Jo Spears on the drive home today... I got to thinking and in like 5 minutes cranked out a reworked version of the lyrics on a word document...

    Original song lyrics:http://www.songlyrics.com/billie-jo-spears/-57-chevrolet-lyrics/

First of all, let me tell you that I have every intention of settling down and getting married, but I have ZERO intentions of ever selling my Tacoma...

However, in order for the lyrics to work, I did the rework from the point-of-view of a 40-something woman finding an old picture of the long-sold 2010 Toyota Tacoma her husband owned back when they first met:

    My ever-so-slightly reworked lyrics:

"Come and look at this old faded photograph.
Honey, tell me what it brings to mind.
It's a picture of that twenty-ten Toyota truck.
I wish that we could drive it one more time.

I still get excited when I think about,
All those car shows you took me to.
But I don't recall a lot about the other cars,
Mostly that old Tacoma and you.

They don't make trucks like they used to.
I wish we still had it today.
    The love we first tasted,
The good love we're still living:
We owe it to that old twenty-ten Toyota truck.

Remember when we used to park it in the rain,
And plug your iPod into the stereo?
We'd hold on to each other while Jack Russell sang,
And we'd stay like that 'til it was time to go

Now it makes me sad to think the good old days are gone,
Although our love is still as strong today.
But the world would have a lot more lovers hanging on,
If they still made twenty-ten Toyota trucks.

They don't make trucks like they used to.
I wish we still had it today.
    The love we first tasted,
The good love we're still living:
We owe it to that old twenty-ten Toyota truck.

We owe it to that old twenty-ten Toyota truck."

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ouucpwgizbc

In a world of aluminum-bodied "Heavy-Duty" Ford F250s and F350s, and what Toyota replaced the 2nd gen with, they really do not make trucks like they used to!

I am NOT a big fan of 3rd Gen Tacomas, or most pickups made after about 2015...

I go to A LOT of car shows, truck shows, swap meets, diesel truck meets...you name it I've been there! Of course I drive my Tacoma to these events. My ex-girlfriend was an automobile enthusiast like me and we went on a few dates to car shows!

I remember the old vehicles with the big steel steering wheel and metal dash, lots of maintenance every year, sloppy steering, drum brakes and such.

I think I know what you are saying but thank you I like the newer vehicles.

Make trucks like they did in the 60s and 70s... Just add power steering, power 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, modern interior... Just keep the brick shithouse construction and give it the reliability of a Tacoma!

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest songs ever recorded! I bought Mafia III the same night I bought my PS4 last November, and I heard "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire for the first time on the in-game car radio in that video game. The song was released in 1964 or so, and Mafia III takes place in 1968 (in a fictionalized version of New Orleans, Louisiana called New Bordeaux).

Aside from the opening line "You're old enough to kill, but not for votin'," I think this song is a very accurate description of the problems in the world today (Just replace Vietnam with Russia and North Korea).

FYI: With regards to the line "Think of all the hate there is in Red China, then take a look around to Selma, Alabama"... Just read the Wikipedia page about this asshole and the role he played in Bloody Sunday.

It also sounds pretty damn good when played on the Pioneer component system in my Tacoma!

This picture is from June 2011... Various HVAC parts I've collected over the years. Aside from the obvious (the 2 fan grilles), see if you can identify what everything is...
    266371_2169736480197_205234_o.jpg
FYI the green Carrier grille came from a 1988 Carrier "Round One" straight-cool unit at the nursing home where I used to work. It was obviously not originally green. I got bored one day, had access to green spray paint, and well...

And then here is another picture of my complete collection:

In this photo: Fan grille (Barber's 1999 Rheem Classic 10 SEER air-conditioner), Fan grille (1987-1988 Carrier "Round One" A/C from nursing home), Defrost control board (Friend's parents' 1998 Trane XE1000 Weathertron heat pump), "High Efficiency" grille medallion thing (Also from friend's parents' 1998 Trane XE1000 Weathertron heat pump), Lennox emblem (friend's neighbor's 1992 Lennox air-conditioner), Honeywell Chronotherm thermostat (from my Grandma's house), Heil emblem (honestly don't remember), Carrier Limited Edition emblems and metal panel (Doctor's 1986 Carrier "Round One" that he replaced in late 2010).

I've lived in Southeast PA since July 2005. July 23, 2010 is the hottest day in my memory!

I took this picture of my laptop screen while at my friend's DJ gig at a Hookah lounge in Glenside. I think I blacked out the specific place and zip code because it was where I lived at the time and I posted this on Facebook (NOTE: This was the temperature at about 6:25pm, and it was still this hot at close to 10pm:
    38642_1545973286507_3937657_n.jpg

Heading to that same DJ gig earlier that day:
    40547_1545976286582_3498181_n.jpg 39107_1545976486587_2259838_n.jpg
    39107_1545976526588_1995777_n.jpg
This picture was taken by me from the backseat of my friend's 1997 or 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I was amazed by the temperature on the digital thermometer and took a few pictures. It went from 103°F to 110°F in a matter of minutes! Thankfully, the Voyager had front and rear A/C, and it was ICE COLD. The guy whose face you see in the rearview mirror is another friend of mine who owned the van (he was obviously driving), but NOT the guy who was DJing that night (he was riding shotgun; the same guy with AS who stunk up my Tacoma with his foot/body odor in the summer of 2012 and who I am no longer friends with for reasons unrelated to his poor hygiene).
