    Great success.

I swapped in a stock used ECU from eBay . Flashed it with the TRD tune and changed the VIN to match my truck using my new Mongoose Pro cable and Toyota Techstream software. The truck goes into open loop a lot sooner and with a smoother transition from closed loop to open loop. There is still boost present before open loop occurs, but not for as long as before with the Bully Dog flash. The TRD tune is overall slightly more rich, but not excessively so.

I have a Bully Dog pre-flashed Tacoma ECU available for sale if anyone is interested. :D

Too bad you cannot turn off DTC's with that. I'd like to turn of my cam position DTC's permanently.

That would be a nice feature. Maybe a software developer could hack the software and the ECU to be able to do that. I wish it were in my wheelhouse, but I'm just a Volkswagen tech. :D

Since I'm in the garage, I went ahead and re-routed that pesky LTR pump relay wire. I couldn't find anything acceptable under the hood so I ran it to the IG1 fuse under the dash. Now the LTR pump won't be spinning up and helping run down the battery every time the damned leak detection pump fires up.

Off topic, but next up after lunch is the ECGS diff bushing.

That theory works, but there is more to it than just the flash though. I would have to take your ECUs and install each one in my truck to do them all. Not happening, LOL!

If someone was local and wanted to stop by the house with their truck and ECU on the weekend or something (and pay for the Techstream sub) that would be doable.

    The way it goes, IIRC.
    1. Pay for Techstream sub (48hr = $55)
    2. Disconnect battery
    3. Swap new ECU into truck
    4. Paperclip across pins 4 & 13 of 16-pin DLC3 connector
    5. Reconnect battery
    6. Hook up battery charger
    7. Turn on ignition
    8. Wait 30 minutes
    9. Turn off ignition
    10. Remove jumper from DLC3 connector
    11. Try to start truck
    12. If it starts, turn off
    13. Turn ignition back on
    14. Hook up Mongoose
    15. Start Techstream and perform health check
    16. Flash w/ TRD flash using calibration update wizard
    17. Start engine, if engine starts turn off
    18. Turn on ignition
    19. Go to engine ECU in Techstream and update VIN
    That's the basics of it.

Congrats @loginfailed glad to see it worked out. Is it running smoother during acceleration with the trd flash? I need to find me a used ecu. I am assuming they are model year specific and AT/MT as well? If so, a 2010 MT may be hard to find.

Where does one go about finding the ecu? Looks like it is under the passenger side behind the glove box? From my googling, my ecu p/n should be 8966104D91 bit would like visual to confirm

My memory is fuzzy, but is this for "Mike Tyson's Punch Out"?

Acceleration feels about the same, but the transition from closed loop to open loop feels a lot smoother and happens a bit sooner than before. So less time with boost at stoich than before. I'm still planning to use the AFR calibrator to fix that, but I haven't hooked it back up yet. I'll do that tomorrow.

Yes they ECUs are specific to years and transmission. I think 2010 MT part number is 89661-04D90. You might want to call the dealer or ask @TIM.TRDSparks to check the part number against your VIN. If that is the right number, here ya go, this guy has two of them listed and they both say "or best offer":

I remember using it for some sort of space fighter plane game.
    Esit: Contra. Looked it up.
Also saw tecmo bowl. That brings back memories. Montana in shotgun to wide open Rice waiting in endzone. Worked every time.

8966104D91 is the updated part number that replaces 8966104D90

The 91 is for the new ECU that already comes with the ping update. You probably have the 90 in your truck.

Mine is the same I have a 60 but the 61 is the newer one.

EDIT: The ping update doesn't apply to 2010 I don't think. Only 2012 to 2014:
