    AFE filter - a few other non-noticeables
Long story short I used to drive nothing but heavy duty Fords which I greatly appreciated and I always got over 400,000 miles out of them without a problem - when I started driving my light duty Ford F150 it gave me nothing but troubles and now I'm very happy to start driving a Tacoma. I have one question -------- can anyone tell me what that plug is coming out of my dash? I discovered it today and I'm wondering what I could do with it

I think there should be a faceplate with a keyhole to turn the airbag on and off.

OK, I found a different picture in the users manual that shows it as that switch but I'm wondering why in the world it was removed and replaced with a blank trim piece

I would check to make sure your passenger airbag is still there.

Maybe your model did not come with that feature?

Hopefully someone with my knowledge on it can chime in.

Thank you everybody, I haven't been on a forum since I had my vintage Kawasaki and that was about eight years ago. I can see they have gotten much better LOL thank you very much for the help and I hope to be able to contribute in a helpful way.

The wiring is indeed for the passenger airbag. though its not used.

Toyota uses the same wiring harness for every model. For single cab and ext cab tacoma's the driver has a faceplate that enables him to turn the airbag on/off depending on who's in the seat (child or car seat) It's a feature not used in Double cabs where your smaller passengers would obviously sit or be in a car seat in the rear.

The wire isn't used, so toyota puts a blank over it.
