In my opinion, it's not. Cool truck but I really have to question if the engine has really been taken care of as well as it says. There's a few problems with those engines that will set you back close to 10 grand overall and I personally wouldn't risk that. If you were really interested I'd have a specialist look at it first. Also; RUST. They say it's a "normal" amount so it's probably not great... They also said it was a daily driver, and that the paint isn't very good anymore, meaning it probably wasn't garage kept (again, adding to rust total). If you need a benchmark on the undercarriage rust, just look at the rims. Those things add up on a 28 year old truck. So yes it's cool, but in my opinion it's worth somewhere around $10,000.

The gas is on the LEFT side? RH drive vehicles in the UK and other places have the pedals in the same location as LH drive vehicles... While you're on the right side, your right foot still operates the gas and brake pedals, and in stick shift vehicles, your left foot operates the clutch...

Who the hell built it this way?

Cool, I suppose. I see these things a lot overseas--they are a dime a dozen especially in some parts of northern Africa. I always chuckle when I get back and see stuff like this for tens of thousands of dollars.. Same goes for skylines and rx7s whenever I am in Japan.

I'd consider that a fair price but I'd also much rather have this RHD Hilux than a new Tacoma.

The shifter, turn signal stalk and wiper stalk are opposite of a LHD vehicle but the pedals are the same. In other words, your hands would have to do different functions but your feet would not. What looks like the gas pedal in that photo is really a dead pedal.

There's a company from Texas (forget what it's called) that converted 2nd gens to diesel using the 4-cylinder turbo engines from the European-spec Hiluxes. Somehow they are able to make these engines 50-state legal... Anybody know what company I'm talking about?

    THANKS!

I would SOOO have this done to my regular cab if I had the money! One time in 2014 some drunk guys in a 1994-1997 Cummins Ram tried to race me and I just blew them off... But wouldn't be awesome to smoke a full-size 2500 diesel truck with a Tacoma?

I would rather do some sort of small displacement v8 swap, on the other hand if I had the money to travel the world in a truck, 70 grand for a diesel tacoma (truck+conversion) as my base vehicle isnt a bad option and I would totally go this route. Especially when the engine they are using is widely available over seas, so parts will be available if you were to break down.

Minnesota doesn't have annual safety inspections, does it?

The cost of having a DieselToys conversion is pretty much what my current truck is worth! Even if I had that kind of money, I'd want a legally binding written guarantee that my A/C would be fully operational after the conversion before I went through with it...

Then why does the OP think the pedal configuration is backwards?

True story: My dad owned a 1990 Mazda B2600i LE-5 4x4 with a 5-speed handshaker, from October 1998 to May 2000. He would let me shift the gears from the shotgun seat. He would tell me what gear, and then he'd hit the clutch while I shifted... As someone who now knows how to drive stick quite well, I can tell you it is NOT hard to drive stick lefthanded...
