I recently visited my local Toyota dealer because I have been stumped on my parking brake issue. Inside of the drum on both driver side and passenger side there is clearly a short cable missing. I am unsure of the name or part number and the tech I spoke with at Toyota and his diagrams of the wheel assembly assured me that there was no such thing. But I am 100% sure there is. Below is a picture where you can vaguely see the cable with the hex nut on it, but it is there! On my truck however it is not. So i guess my question is, what the heck is this thing actually called, and where can I get it. Keep in mind I have searched back and forth on Rock Auto and the likes with no luck. Thanks![IMG]

Its the parking brake actuator cable. Should be able to get it at any auto parts store. I'd be afraid if that service tech didn't know what that was, but even more if he didn't realize that it was missing. (Especially since the parking brake is also referred to as the e-brake as in "Emergency" when it's real use is needed).

You went to the dealer with VIN in hand To the parts counter .

They pulled up the section on the Parking brake ??

The parts counter person stated your set up is different from what is in your truck Correct ??

Is it possible the complete rear axle assembly has been changed from what came from the factory ??

One piece of linkage attaches to the bell crank

That attaches to the pivot .

From the pivot the other linkage goes to parking brake lever
