I welded my sliders on Saturday morning and there was a noticeable improvement in ride quality. UPS man says my ifs and Trans skids will be here Thursday day. If the ride improves more with that 80ish pounds of steel I will leave the preload alone. I decreased front rebound by 2bars as well and that made a pretty nice improvement. IMG_0068.jpg

Looking good. I have only been driving around town with the BP-51s so far, but I have found that setting the compression on the lowest setting, and the rebound on the 6th setting up from the lowest has given me the best ride so far. I am not running much weight running around town so we'll see if that needs to change when I get a load on the truck and I hit some oil field roads.

Cab mount chop a few weeks ago. I still rub the fender at full lock when flexed a bit. My negative offset wheels didn't help. When I had 4.50 bs with 0 offset I didn't rub at all

So after about 2000 miles on the BP51s on mostly rough pavement and icy winter beaten gravel roads I have settled on my compression and rebound settings. Right now I have both on the second setting up from the bottom. I found that you don't notice rebound much on the pavement, but that tiny changes made a huge difference on rough potholed and washboard roads.

My methodology for making my adjustments was first to run with both settings at the extremes just get a few friends them. Then I turned the rebound and compression all the way down. I then inched the compression up on nothing at a time until I found the balance between comfort but still having enough compression that I wasnt bottoming out on the biggest bumps. After this I bumped the rebound up just enough to get rid of the tendency to walk sideways on washboards, any higher and it just added harshness to the ride.

Ultimately the BP51s are no smoother on the types of roads I drive on a daily basis than my stock Baja suspension, which is a bit of a disappointment. I think where they will shine is in whooped out terrain, once adjusted properly for that terrain.

Maybe not enough weight on your truck? I think I'm about the same as settings go. Had 5100's previous so the ride is definitely better for me. I'm tempted to pull them and adjust the pre load to like 15mm and see how that goes. My buddies JKU with these feels better than my truck does. Definitely softer ride. Overall though I like the way my truck feels.

I don't think weight was the issue, I had 300-400 lbs in the back and a topper on top of that. It's not bad, it's just not the lady on the streets and the freak in the sheets I was hoping for.

I went back out today and tweaked the setting to the third notch up from bottom on both compression and rebound and it feels a little better, but time will ultimately tell.

Reposting a bit of info I just got and posted on another thread. Since there isn't a ton of information on these shocks, I measured the extended and compressed length on the rears, and they were 25" fully extended (measured from top of shock body, not including bushing down to center of mounting eyelet) and they were 14 7/8" fully compressed, so this works out to 10 1/8" of travel on the rears.

I ended up over in eastern Oregon today and was able to hit a few rugged and somewhat rocky trails, to get the BP51s dialed in for more of that sort of terrain. This is the first time they have really shown me some improvement over the Baja suspension. I shot a short little video that I have attached below.

    https://youtu.be/avD80Q2zGN0

I don't think I bottomed or topped out at all during the video. That being said this is the first time I have been out on the type of terrain where I would see the extremes of the travel with my super bumps, so I don't really know what bottoming out feels like now. Ultimately even if I did bottom out at some point I didn't realize it, and that's a good thing.

Installed my OME BP51 setup with full Dakar leaf pack on my 2011 Access Cab 4x4. Front measurements with ARB bumper, front/trans/tcase skids, sliders, aux battery in engine bay. The front BP51 coilovers were left at the factory setting of 20mm preload.

I have a Leer canopy with Prinsu roof rack and awning installed. The bed is loaded with a sleeping platform, tools and supplies, and the fuel tank is 3/4 full. My guestimate of weight back there on a regular basis is roughly 300lbs. These are my eyeball with a tape measure and straight edge measurements for hub to fender. If anyone knows of an accurate way of measuring this please let me know.

    Front driver side: 22.90"
    Front passenger side: 23.10"
    Rear driver side: 23.90"
    Rear passenger side: 24.20"

I took my time installing the kit so it took me most of the weekend. I took it out for a spin earlier and I can feel the suspension working much better to support the added weight of my modifications. My previous setup consisting of Bilstein 5100s and Eibach 600lb springs felt like a boat up front with all of the weight. I left the compression and rebound settings where they came from the factory (front: 6 rebound, 4 compression / rear: 3 rebound, 3 compression). I can provide more feedback when I put more miles on the setup.

    Are floor mats a mod?
I fiddled around with mine on the compression and rebound settings and ended up going back to the factory settings. I have just under 3" in front and about 6" in back with extra leaf. I am about 1200 lbs over stock, with about 350 of it in front. I live 2 mi from ARB US, and know a couple of guys there, and they said ARB engineers and tests the living crap out of the 51's. I believe them.

I have been putting a lot of miles on, and I keep coming back to settings of around 3 and 3 for compression and rebound. As I add more weight or hit harder terrain the compression might go up, and as I do more highway driving and run empty, it goes down. Rebound seems just right at about 3 in all situations so far.

You’re running 3/3 comp/rebound settings all the way around ?
