I've been going over specs and reviews and ratings till my eyes go numb and I've narrowed it down a lot, but I'm looking for some year round tires for my 4x2. I thought I would toss this one out there to you guys who might have tried both, or have some feedback if I'm missing another great choice.

    My requirements were the following:
-Good snow traction. On par with a dedicated snow tire.
-Low(ish) noise. I know good grip comes at a price but I don't want to drive myself nuts.
-16" sizes. I'm currently running 245/75/R16, but I'm not opposed to moving to 265/70/R16 or some other size that doesn't throw the speedo off.
-Not too heavy. E rated just isn't necessary for me. I don't do hardcore hauling or offroading so that extra weight would sap mileage for no reason.

Bearing that in mind, I'm down to Cooper Discoverer A/T3's, or Falken Wild Peaks A/T3W's.
Goodyear Duratracs/Authorities are damn expensive. I'm not afraid of dropping the coin on them, but I hear the Coopers and Falkens are just as good for less, so why bother.

I can get 265/70/R16 Falkens for about the same price as 245/75/R16 Coopers, roughly $480. I'll shop around more but that seems pretty good. Bumping the coopers up to the 265 size bumps my price up by like $100, so I'm reluctant to do that.

Never had Coopers before, but I used to run Falken performance tires on my little VW GTI back in the day and loved 'em to death. I feel like I can't really go wrong with either, but I'm still stumped.

    Thoughts?

Just to confuse the subject. Checkout Hankook Dynapro ATM's. Never ran them but they are generating good buzz for decent snow traction. Can be had at Walmart.

I have about 4k miles on my 265/70/R16 Cooper AT3s. Very pleased so far. Good wet traction. Fairly quite and balanced well.
I was pleased enough with them that I just put a set on my 2012 4x4 Avalanche.

    can't speak to Falkens.

I just went through the same thing... I also had the same requirements/wants in a tire as you(except I didn't need snow performance) and landed on the Michelin LTX A/T2. I just got them put on today so I don't have a lot of experience with them yet but according to all the reviews people are easily getting 70k-100k miles out of a set. They are p metric and only weigh a couple pounds more than stock tires. They are quiet and ride smooth. Also per reviews they handle snow well.. Michelin also makes a LTX M/S2 which is mud and snow and they get nothing but great reviews.. However the tires were $171 each after mount, balance, tax it was $840 out the door... But it's better then spending $600-$700 on a set that will only last 35k miles... (not saying that the coopers or falkens will only last 35kmi, I have absolutely no experience with them.)

Also the Toyo Open Country AT2 get good reviews and looks more aggressive.

Here is my thread of it helps

I went with the Falkens. The discount was about to expire so I grabbed 'em at Discount Tire. Got them in 265/70R16, $542 out the door with the replacement plan.

Now to pick some wheels!:p My stock steelies can mount them, but that's totally boring.

I have the AT3s on my Forester and they have preformed very well during the snow storms in CO. Very good traction on the highway and in the city in the snow with almost no wear after 10000 miles. They also do well on muddy roads light off-roading.
