your 5100s are fine with 15k miles
The coil spring compressor-less method is stupid easy and much faster (search forums about it)
You will be fine with stock rear brake lines, you can always bend the bracket slightly to get a bit more slack if needed, but i doubt you will need to.

An upgraded rear shock would help but being that it will only be maybe 1.5" lift i'd imagine stock shocks will work since you wont be flexing so much that you will lift a tire off the ground.

tid bits about install. spray everything with penetrating oil a few days before. give the underside a good wash down to knock out any dirt or road grime that may fall in your face.

6182958864_IMG_3597.jpg I recently lifted my taco with 5100 and 887 shocks and couldnt be happier, installed a wheelers 3 aal in the rear and installed RRW type 4 wheels with some bfg 285-70-17 had some rubbing issues, had to remove mudflaps and I'm going to have to do a cab chop, but at the moment I did my alignment and raked the caster 3.25 degrees so I can get some added clearance, after the cab chop going to bring the alignment back to 2-2.5 degrees caster IMG_4434.jpg

I installed mine and got over 3" of lift. I'm sitting at 39" from ground to bottom of finder and 24" from center of hub to finder bottom
Had to get SPC LR UCAs due to contact with the stock UCAs

Hey everyone has anyone tried running these ome 887/5100 on a pre runner dclb? I'm wondering how much lift it would end up giving since I only see 4x4 running them. I thought about running the 885 but I rather not have to use a top end spacer to achieve a full 3 inch lift. I've been debating between these and the eibach coils. Thank you guys in advance.

You'll love it. I am running 887's and have no issues. I didn't need UCA. Alignment is in with a lil wiggle room. Not much but there is some adjustment left.

    Resurrecting....hopefully :D

I read EVERYTHING, took me 6 beers.
Plus other additional thread information, plus my own created threads..i have a couple simple straight forward questions..

Running stock coils, 5100s, at 2.5" in front
General Spring 3+1 HD leaf springs, 5100s rear

    1. I want 887s, set at 0", will i want a driver side 1/4" spacer to pair with the new shocks? Im assuming yes, and DUH.

    2. How necessary would new aftermarket UCAs be? Besides alignment correction. Benefits? Disadvantages?

    3. Looking for approx. 3/4"-1" lift over current setup. If i do not attain that, who makes a possible top plate 3/4" driver side spacers, to pair with a possible 1/2" passenger side spacer?

    Thanks all! :D:fingerscrossed::anonymous::hattip::oldglory::amen:

Ok I think the 887 give you slightly more lift than the 885' so you be at like almost 3" with the 887's and Billy's set at zero. I recommend new upper control arms they will yield better alignment results and put less strain on your front suspension components. For a spacer to compensate the lean. I did a 1/2" on driver and 1/4" on passenger and know I'm at about 24 1/2 up front. I am running billy's witth 885's That is from center of hub to bottom of fender. I'm thinking you could get away with just a 1/4" on driver. Whatever the size of the spacer is it increases your lift by double 1/4"=1/2" of lift.

I just removed this setup and went with Maxtrac spindles since I'm 2wd. I can tell you that whether you're 4wd or not, the 887s will settle some. Some people claim that they don't "need" UCAs, but the driveabililty and overall ride quality significantly increase when you upgrade - also allows you to get a better alignment.

I've been running 5100's with 887's and SPC Light Racing UCA's for about a month now on my 13 DCLB TRDOR and i LOVE it. Rides better than stock I think. I'm still waiting on my bumper (8 weeks on a 4-6 week Pelfreybilt lead time ) but I'm expecting it to settle a little and smooth the ride out some when I get that on, but I'm happy now even with a stock bumper and no armor. I did the Dakar AAL in the back and it sits a little higher in the front but I think the bumper will flatten it out. I'm still on stock Rugged Trails until they wear out. I'd say with the current setup I'm at just over 3" in the front and right at 3" in the back.

You mentioned new shock. Why not just reuse your 5100s with your 887 coils? I have the same front setup you asking about.

5100s, 887 coils, 1/4in lean spacer, and I went with JBA UCAs.

How does the spindle lift compare to the 5100s/887?
