Alright everyone, I need to figure this out quick. Not really a pro on vehicles by any means...so I could use any help. I won a set of XD Series Wheels from National Tire and Wheel. I'm going with an 18X9 XD Monster II's. I do NOT have a leveling or lift kit on and I don't want to (can't afford at the moment.) I want to go with the biggest size Tire I can right now and I'm not sure what size. I was told the biggest I can go without any rub would be a 255/55/18. My stock tires are 265/65/17. The truck is a lease and I don't want to cut anything if I do not have to. Anybody running 18X9's on stock suspension? What size tires are you running? Thank you in advance!

A 255/55-18 is smaller than the 265/65-17. The largest tire you can go is a 265/70-17, or equivalent. Now, depending on the offset of the wheel you may rub when turning if the wheel has less offset than factory wheels without a lift.

Thats why I said equivalent. 265/65-18 would be about the same as a 265/70-17. Like I said though, if the wheels have less offset the tires may rub when you turn without a lift.

The offset is only gonna be like a 1/4-1/2 an inch past the fenders.I wanted a little offset but not too much.

Thats a decent amount of offset. Factory is about +30 mm. If your sticking out by that much, then those wheels must have about 0mm to -12mm offset. So a difference of about 30mm to 40mm. Youll probably have a slight rub on full lock.

I was gonna go -12. I might just have to do the leveling kit as much as I don't want to right now. I just don't know what to go with. I don't wanna pay for the tires and then not be satisfied.

You can try it with those tires and see what happens. If youre looking for a reasonable lift, just get bilstein 5100 coil overs and set them at .85" or 1.75" with your factory springs and youll be good. The sport springs arent so stiff that it will make a big difference with those height settings.

    So you're recommending 265/65/18?

All Im saying is that size is a close equivalent to the largest size without a lift on stock wheels that will fit. With that offset they may rub.

Another words, if you had 16" wheels and put 265/75-16 (about the same size as you want) on the stock wheels, all would be good. Put those same 265/75-16 on wheels with less offset and they start to rub.

I'm getting the Bilstein 5100 3" lift. I ordered some wheels 18x9 -12 offset with 275/65r18 tires. I'm really hoping I don't have to trim anything. There are so many different answers on tacomaworld.

It worked out really well. It looks agressive and rides great! I did have to trim a small amount of the inside fenders. At full lock, in reverse, it rubs the frame a bit. It's really not too bad and I can live with it.

Looks great! Thanks. Did you have the speedometer recalibrated with the larger tires?

Thanks bro! No, I haven't had it calibrated as of yet. I use a few fitment calculators online and the difference isn't too off. I'll end up getting it tuned and calibrated anyway.

No lift, I'm in process of putting the Bilstein 5100s firestone ride rite airbags with Sota Novakane 18" wheels with Michelin LTX M/S2 265/60R18.
