I just recently bought a S&W Shield. Recently as in a few days ago and I haven't been able to shoot it. I love the feel of it though. A buddy of mine is planning on buying an XDS and I'm just wondering what you guys have to say about the two. Kind of preparing for the debating he is going to start about our pistols, but mainly just curious.

I traded in a S&W Shield for an XDS, and I like the XDS better - but it was a 40 (Shield) for a 9mm (XDS), so it wasn't a straight up change. I like the feel of the XDS better, and I shoot better with it (still not too good!), but that is just my personal preference.

I shot the shield for the first time and it was so easy to shoot and the trigger was nice. Didn't shoot a pistol for a few months beforehand and I was accurate up to 20 yards easily with it

I plan on purchasing a shield very soon, but am also looking at a Kahr that is slightly smaller. I'll more than likely go with the shield. Smooth trigger, lightweight, and very rigid IMO.

I have the XDS. I did a trigger job on mine. Couldn't be happier with it.

What kind of trigger did you get?

Transformed the pistol. I really recommend it.

I like the xds because I can choose/change grip lengths easily. Can use a short grip when holstered iwb and then have the longer mag as the spare. And Springfield also has those bunch of free mags with purchase deals. I think there might be one right now.

I bought mine because I really liked how it felt in my hand. I tried Glocks, Smiths, and Rugers. In the end the XDS was my favorite.

I have had the XDS, it was a nice shooting gun. However I sold it and bought a Glock 43 and couldn't be happier with it. But that could change too. I tend to rotate 9mm pretty regularly.

My favorite thing about Glocks is the huge selection of aftermarket goodies.

Had a shield in the 9mm...my fat hands were just too big for it and it was too small to really get a good purchase and control on it. Ended up trading for the Compact version w/safety delete in FDE. Size is relatively close but I can handle it better with more hand on gun control. Plus the bigger clip capacity 12+1.

I'm not the greatest pistol shot however, I'd rather pull out the AR but I keep in decent practice and always have it handy. I'd like to try out a XDS and see what the fuss is about but my last Springfield was less than satisfactory...

Both are good guns like others said above! Ive shot both, my dad carries shield and my brother carries XDs. One thing you can hold over your buddies head is the polymer frame from Springfield are made in Karlovac, Croatia. As far as I know Smith uses 100% U.S.A made parts, but other than that the guns are almost identical. One thing Springfield has over Smith is their sight are usually already "upgraded", no white dot sights. They usually come with like a TRUGLO style sights that is stock.

We own two Shields, a 9mm PC Shield for me and a standard 9mm Shield for the boss. My PC Shield is awesome though I have to admit that adding an Apex trigger to it made it much, much better. As for my boss, she loves her Shield as it fits well in her small hands and is easy for her to manipulate.
