Any reason not to put on an SL rated tire if you aren't towing or off roading?

I know an SL rated tire is lighter, but is there a reason I shouldn't get them and stick to at C or E rated LT tire if my truck is primarily my daily driver with no off roading and minimal towing?

    Thanks

What tire are you thinking about? the Toyo AT2 are a good versatile tire with a P rating.

That's exactly why you should get them.

Remember, they come from the factory with a P metric tire - there's no need for an LT tire unless your use dictates such. Yours doesn't.

That's what I figured, just wanted confirmation. Thanks

Funny, i was going to post the same question!..... I've been looking at a lot of tires lately but I'm also leaning towards the at/3's. I've been looking at the weights and trying to stay within reason of the stock dunflop's i have on there now which I saw at 36-37lbs as well. I'm thinking 265/70/17 and i'm 95% pavement and maybe 5% offroad but thats almost all on the beach, I don't think I need a heavy duty tire for sand. I'm finding the SL load at 41lbs and C load at 50lbs. That's a big difference which i'm sure will hurt the already lacking acceleration and mpg's. I'm wondering if anyone has pic's of this size tire with a +/-3" lift? I'm curious 1) do the SL load tires look the same as the C load? and 2) will the 265/70/17's fill the wheel well enough? I don't want to have the small wheel/ big wheel well syndrome! Can anyone help me out here?? thanks!

I had the same size ATPs on my Tacoma, they're 265/75/16 which is =/= 265/70/17.

I'll post a pic in a minute. My lift was about 2.5/2.75 front and 2.75 rear.

I had General Grabber AT2s in SL. I even aired down and wheeled with them quite a few times and had zero problems.

Those fit pretty nice in the wheel well! I'm just trying to stay away from removing and cutting the shit out of my truck to get bigger tires on it. Thanks for the pic! ( i'm gonna be at 2.75 in the front and 2.5 in the rear)

Fantastic tire. I wouldn't fret about that tire unless you are seeking a rough off-road tire.

I've looked at a lot of reviews and the majority say it's a smooth ride on pavement with not a lot of noise.....Only concern i saw was snow but then i saw some utube videos' of guys going through deep snow and slushy shit with no trouble at all.

My employer uses them on 1/2 ton trucks to tow trailers loaded with hot tubs in Montana up and down mountains....

    You'll be fine.

This will be my 3rd set of AT3's I have put on trucks. They are a great semi aggressive all terrain. A good compromise for a daily driver
