Hey guys I have a 2008 2.7L ACLB tacoma with a manual transmission. I'm long overdue for a suspension replacement, so I've decided to do a full ICON suspension system. I only get to wheel once a month but I plan to increase that to maybe 3-4 times per month. Because of the manual tranny and smaller engine, I found myself having to go semi-fast and pick up speed in order to overcome obstacles and run certain trails.

    So...

I was wondering, with the above in mind, which suspension system I should go with? I've been eyeing the Stage 4 w/ tubular UCAs but I'd like to see what other, likely more experienced members have to say!

(I'm currently running the stock springs with a TuffCountry 3" spacer lift and AAL. NOT so good for wheeling)

Those 2.7L have a lot of power. Just need to use low range more.

The Icon is a top of the line system. Greatly increasing the dampening ability of your suspension.

Thanks! I'll have some heavy sliders with fill plates and a skid plate before the suspension, would the suspension keep my clearance do you think?

Maybe look into the 700lb Springs. Downsouth Motor sports does different valuing and springs as well. Can buy from them or send in as well. I'm sure others do as well but they are an "Approved Icon Rebuilder"

700lb springs for the extra weight or for another reason?

If you don't have over 200lbs on the front of your truck (Armor, Winch, etc), don't go with 700lb springs. I have 650lb Icon coils up front with plate bumper, winch with cable and skids and I *might* be able to get away with a 700lb coil and keep a reasonable ride height. If you put a 700lb coil on a 2.7l truck with no armor you're gonna be ~ 5" in lift.

edit: Also your truck will ride like a dump truck.

Got it, and I can probably put in those 700lbs later on if I end up with a winch and more armor. Thanks man!
