I also discovered that my tundra calipers pulled off the sticky weights balancing my wheel. Guess I have to find a way for the clip ons to stay on. Never had good luck with them on these wheels.

Sick truck! and nice work on all the homemade gear.

I saw a blue print for a first gen skid, I think somewhere on TTORA, is that the one you used to build your skid plate?

Looks like they did come from TTORA

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/homemade-skid-plates.262726/page-2#post-6892570

I'd recommend replacing the rear mounts. I had one fail on my old frame and in a few months of having my new frame both broke. Last week I finally welded my own plates in there.

Hoping to have trans/tcase skid built soon.

Are you talking about the mounts that the OEM skid attaches to?

Yes. The 2 tabs that are tack welded by the lower control arm.

For the rear mounts? I just cut 2 pieces of 1/8th plate to fit there and welded them in where the originals were. Then put the skid back in place, drilled holes and dropped a bolt down from the top.

I like to try and tack the bolts in place since it's difficult to get a wrench in there but for now the impact gets it pretty tight.

I can try and get some pictures later.

Nice! Yeah If would ever redo it I would have a welded nut like stock but much beefier. Original is so weak.

@cynicalrider heres a picture of the new mount. Same concept as the original. I going to cut some off on the LCA side so hopefully I can get a wrench in there. I need to paint it too.

Replaced my rear OME shocks with BOSS. I think 60k on the OME was pretty good and hopefully the BOSS last just as long even though I plan on Chevy springs and shock relocate this year. I think I gained 3/4 of an inch over the OME of droop. Also finally installed the extended rear brake line.

Replaced the carrier bearing Sunday. I think it got rid of my vibes around 55 to 65. Felt like I had a tire out of balance. Surprisingly this job was pretty easy. I was expecting the bearing to be frozen to the shaft but a little push with the press and it popped right off.
Next up header, muffler and wheels. @HomerTaco those moto metals are nearing the end of there life. The chrome is flaking at the bead now and 3 out of 5 tires have a very slow leak at the bead.

Those skid mounts look good, definitely something I want to do in the future. Also how much is too much play in a CB? Because I have a decent amount.

If you think you have a decent amount of play its probably bad. One you get the driveshaft off the trucks and give the bearing a spin it was noticeable how bad it was.

Did the research, I see you used a press to get the bearing off? I think I'll go the jaw puller route but have no good bench vise to use to that may be an issue for me. Though it doesn't seem too necessary since the pressure is being put on the shaft and bearing itself. Did you use a crows foot adapter to get the torque needed on the drive shaft nuts? I have a complete spare drive shaft with old joints and stuff, not sure if I should rebuild that and put that all on or just do the CB and rebuild the spare shaft eventually with all new joints. Also am concerned that I will have issues mounting the shaft properly with no reference as far as "balance" goes since I took it off a wrecked truck a year ago.

3 jaw puller should be fine. You might fight tightening the puller and keeping the shaft from turning to. With an impact it probably won't be to bad though.

I didn't torque the driveshaft bolts. I just paint marked them all. I think the torque for them is 54ftlbs though. Which is what the final torque is on the stake nut so I used my recently calibrated elbow.

Honesty I'm surprised that I haven't needed to replace any joints yet. Thought for sure with all the poop water I used to play around in they would be bad by now. I'd just replace the CB, if the joints on your spare are good.

I'd imagine a driveline shop could match up the two shafts.
