Its funny that you say something about 'effort' then ignore the post where I already addressed that I was genuinely asking if he had anything to contribute to the other question from the post, giving him the benefit of the doubt with regards to just being a troll. I dunno what's up your ass, but what I said, even if it were backhanded, can hardly be described as 'crapping all over a member'- who, I'll remind you- went out of his way to be a jackass first.

    +1.....

There are bumpers with higher clearance than stock but then you have to cut the rear fenders. If you are hitting the hitch and remove/relocate to higher up, you probably want/need one of the high clearance plate bumpers.

Make more clearance and lots of other parts you need will start to drag.. I'd rather lift the truck and drag the tow hitch on the very rare occasion I'd be hitting it.

    Edit:
with new plate bumper of course... they are a lot easier to install than the OEM bumper after fixing it. They look WAY better too IMHO.

man, it gets out of hand quickly..
but to answer the question is it is all bolt on, nothing permanent, a lot of bolts.
there are a lot of hidden hitch bumpers but I worry about the legality of towing a trailer (or a hitch mounted bike rack) with the license plate flipped down...
but if you go that route, can I have your trailer wiring harness out of your factory bumper:D, I got a C4 fab bumper that uses that harness and I have a 2nd gen.

It sure does, I'm apparently the first person who has ever been stuck at work and asked questions on TW I could just go figure out on my own hours later. Whatever :crapstorm:

Do you like your C4 bumper? I'm looking at them pretty hard, getting it set up exactly how I want seems to be similarly priced to SOS and their site has a bit more info/pictures. Unfortunately if I go that route, I'll need my harness!

RCI bumper. There was no cutting of anything to get the stock bumper and hitch off. Even if you switch to a bumper similar to this which isn't one of the high clearance bumpers you'll still get quite a bit more clearance, not sure how much you're looking for though. The plus for me was that you aren't cutting any of the sheetmetal.

I don't really tow anything heavy but I do pull around 2000 - 2500lbs every now and then with a drop hitch, never has any issue. The steel bumper is pretty stout comparing it to stock.

Calling someone lazy, impatient, and 'not a man' while accusing them of 'crapping all over a member' is an interesting tactic when one isn't looking to start a shitstorm.

Everyone gets it by now, I could have just not asked any questions about the receiver. If I had known it would have resulted in this trash heap of a comment chain, I certainly wouldn't have. We've all asked questions we could have quite easily answered on our own (*cough*), but my bad. I had other questions to ask as well (bumper recommendations, towing capability of said bumpers). But when someone rolls up on the post almost a full day after I initially posted it, have gotten answers to my questions and valuable feedback from people, and thanked them for their time, just to stir some shit, I'm going to have a hard time being apologetic towards that behavior. Then you launching into ad hominem attack dog mode made it almost impossible for me to feel anything close to remorse.

So, now that I've looked at some pictures of kittens for a little bit, here goes: Sorry for all the rustled jimmies and for not answering my own questions. And thanks again for everyone who has actually helped me with bumper suggestions and information.

Yes I do... OEM wiring harness not long enough was the only snag! Priced compared to RCI is favorable. RCI has a higher Bro factor.

Now does that bumper have a 2" receiver behind the license plate?

    Good looking bumper too.

Edit: Looked it up....I like the hidden receiver.

It's okay. I put a little powder on them. They're better now.

I have yet to get it installed, I got the sliders and the bumper at the same time and they make great stuff, I think I got the last 2nd gen bumper he made, and it is sexy and the receiver hitch is removable so I can have it when I need it and remove it when I don't.

IMHO, the only thing to do is a plate bumper. I've already abused my CBI armor pretty badly and it's holding up fine.

    Hidden hitch

    Better departure angle

And loads more protection than the Tupperware.
