Hey guys, My name is CJ and I just purchased a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport with 30,000 miles on it. I come from a jeep background and have had an xj, yj, and tj. I am currently stationed with the Air Force in Cheyenne, WY but am always in the Fort Collins, Estes Park, and Denver area.

The truck is a pretty large investment for me so my build will happen at a snails pace. The way it was financed was so that in 5 years it will be paid off which is also the amount of time left on my enlistment. With that being said I am huge on overlanding and with my last ride being a Jeep Tj I have so much more room now to carry all my gear now. My goal is to build a reliable rig to tackle light to medium trails. I am from Arizona/California and will use the truck to transport surf boards, dirt bikes, and camping equipment to remote locations.

    Parts List....

Icon Lift- I like the look of the reservoirs but I am still undecided

UCA- When it comes time to buy I will be shopping for good deals for medium travel

Wheels- Hoping to come up on a good deal on some TRD Pro if not probably going to run Methods with a AT 275/70/17

Tanuea Cover/ Camper Shell- Not Decided on brand

Pelfreybilt Bumpers/ Armor- Would like it to hold a 30in light bar instead of a 20in... Full Skid plates

Sound System- Came with the ETune head unit.. need speakers and Jl Audio Stealth box/amp

    Rear Seat Safe-
    https://www.esptruck.com/product-page/toyota-tacoma-rear-under-seat-storage-unit

Lighting- Morimoto fog lights, Retro fit Headlights, 30" rigid light bar

    Random Gear
    - Weather tech floor mats, Window Tint, Full LED kit from Jumper, Seat Covers

I look forward to learning from this forum and hopefully attending some local events. If you guys come across any deals on the parts listed or have any opinions on things I should do different, please let me know.

Welcome! what's your AFSC? I've got about 5 years left until I retire, but going through an MEB right now so maybe less.

If you're always down this way, talk to Insain Fab in Commerce City (@SilverGhost can connect you to them) they do great work and they're right there so a tweak here and there is easy to get done. they're who is going to be working on my new truck ('17 I bought last Friday) and I wouldn't trust just anyone.

I have a thing for lights, flashlights, headlights etc... I just like being able to see at night. that being said... you will love the retrofit, I did mine in my 99 and seriously my favorite mod by far. I'd look into the Baja Designs 30" too, they make one that's dual controlled so you have 2-10"sections on either side that are amber, and the center section that is white. I had Rigid's on my 99, the SAE fog's and some up on my hood as ditch lights... they were bright and I loved them, until a friend pulled up with Baja Designs Squadron Pro's... and they made my rigids look like mini-mags... and the Squadron Pro's aren't even the brightest they make... by a long shot! so I just ordered a set of Pro's for my fogs (plug and play kit as well which includes mounting).

    anyways, Welcome again!

Yeah I slightly addicted to lights also but light to keep it reasonable on the price range. Baja stuff is great but comes with a big ole price tag. As far as labor goes I love doing my own work on my trucks. Before the military I had racked up roughly 6 years of automotive mechanics and 2 years of metal fabrication and powder coating. But if i ever need some help I won't hesitate to shoot them a call.

Currently I am a 3p05 Security forces member..... Hopefully getting a K9 shred by the end of the year.
