    I know, I know!
I have no agenda here. I got rid of my 3rd Gen after 6 months.
I bought a 2nd Gen! My history is on TW for all to read.

To the OP…..Maine Toyota dealers are also seeing 3rd Gen's being traded/sold.

No need to take the piss out of the bloke for an observation.

My better half has an 01 CE with just over 90k. The thing is like a slot car. Getting new struts all around and new sneakers. I scare her now when I drive it. She's gonna freak out after this project is complete. Hehehehe :thumbsup:

I'm surprised you haven't replaced your profile pic with your 2nd gen as I can see you still have the 3rd gen as your profile pic.
The 3rd gen isn't for everyone but I love mine. There are some things that the 2nd excels in and there are some things the 3rd gen excels in. The 3rd gen has more features (push button start, sunroof, parking sensors, heated seats, large touchscreen infortainment center, crawl control, Multi terrain select).

Granted this is my first pickup truck. I'm only 24 and this is only my second vehicle. I had a 2014 Scion tC that came off a lease and it was a 6 speed manual transmission with the 2.5L Camry engine and that car was cheaply made. I thought because it was made in Japan it would be better quality but my new Tacoma feels and drives like a luxury vehicle compared to my tC. Yes it stickered for almost double the tC but I am still impressed.
I have had no issues with my 3rd gen no differential howling, no happy shifting auto trans, or any of the other crap people have been complaining on this forum. I never drove a 2nd gen Tacoma so I can't compare but I don't regret my 3rd gen purchase. I love the styling of it (those big 2nd gen headlights are out of style) and I always look back when I get out of the truck and take the long way home from work because I love driving it so much.

For goodness sake, I give one example of a dealer that NEVER has trucks and now its "ONE frigin dealer" I've noted this at multiple dealers. Give me a break.

Congrats on your truck! I was 24 once too.

    Again, no agenda here.

    Thanks no problem.
I know you don't have anything against the 3rd gens you just prefer the 2nd gen more.
Another poster mentioned a doctor traded in his 3rd gen limited for a fully loaded tundra. The Tacoma was probably too small for him and he didn't realize it until after he owned it a few months. It probably wasn't anything personal against the 3rd gen Tacoma, it just didn't fit his needs.
The truck fits my needs just fine. There's plenty of room for my 2 year old boxer in the back and I often haul him in the bed of the truck to take him to the dog park and take him fishing with me when I drive the dirt trails to the river. I don't haul a lot of people as I don't have a family yet but when I have children this truck may no longer fit my needs. People trade vehicles for several reasons not exactly because they hated the vehicle they were driving.

FWIW Technology has come a long way. It was a 2014 Subaru Outback that rear ended my GMC3500 and bent its frame. Both passengers in their car walked away and I had a dashboard in my lap. And, their car wasn't totaled.

The Ridgeline is a unibody Truck.

I did a search on KSL.com here in the Salt Lake City area. This is our high traffic classifieds out here. More exposer than CL and dealers us it a lot. Did 200 mile range dealer/private sales and used only. 430 Tacoma's listed for sale; 270 dealer listings, 160 FSBO, 42 of of the 430 3rd gen; 30 of those at dealers.

I like to hate on the 3rd gen just as much as others sometimes, but a Ridgeline, seriously? They look like the Mini Me version of the Chevy Avalanche and are just as ugly. I'd rather drive a golf cart.

I did a nationwide search of 2016-2017 (3rd gens only) Tacoma's for sale at dealers. 2567 popped up for sale across the U.S. Toyota sold 191,000+ units of the third gen in 2016 and some of the 179,000+ units in 2015 were 3rd gens.
For only 2,567 for them to be on sale on the used market that's only 1% of the 3rd gen buyers trading their trucks after 6 to 18 months max owning them.

Not too many people are trading in their 3rd gens across the nation.

Im sure many would take the new Colorado zr2 over a Tacoma, if your into off roading at least. Tacoma can't compare. 3rd gen is behind, and not even much of an upgrade from the 2nd gen Tacoma unless you want nicer interior. I'm a Toyota fan of course but not unaware.

Well, actually that would only be how many are for sale right now. That doesn't count for any 3rd gen that has already been purchased preowned.

Tacoma can't compare to what? On the off-road test the Chevy twins were blowing air bags while driving over rough terrain. The Tacoma had to sit and sip coffee while waiting around for the street queens.

I would take the 3rd gen TRD off road over the ZR2 because it's cheaper and comes with good enough off road gadgets for my off road needs. If a front locker is so important, you can just add it to the front axel and forget spending an extra $10k for a ZR2. The ZR2 is going to be impossible to find when they come out because it's going to be limited production.

Still a small percentage of them in the used car market. There are 150 tacomas on sell for all model years within a 100 miles of me. Of course there has been some lemon 3rd gens. A mass produced truck that has already sold 250,000+ trucks I doubt all of them are going to be problem free. Humans make these trucks not god.
Like I said anyone who doesn't like the 3rd gen doesn't buy one or trade in if they already bought one. Consumers know the issues of these trucks by now and if they were that serious new Tacoma sales would have plummeted by now. I love mine and I will be keeping it until the 4th gens come out.

We weren't comparing the ZR2 just regular average Tacoma to Colorado. Not to mention it's a GM.
