Rubbing compound by hand. Start off rubbing lightly and apply more pressure as needed. Guarantee that will work. Be sure to polish afterward.

Or you could wet sand it with some 1500 grit and then polish.

Ha ha...perhaps, but it takes 3 minutes to read the chrome novel stuck to my tailgate. Prospective buyers might get bored.

Still no luck with rubbing compound and then polishing it

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Its 10 years old, paint, adhesive and in a very dirt collecting area of the truck.

You will not get the same final results as a 1 or 2 yr old truck would.

I wager its eaten thru the clear, so even wet sanding wont get it done.

You could try something fancy with the badges nefore you reinstall them.

Anyone have an extra prerunner badge lying around? I'm gonna put that on the doors since the tailgate badges came off good

If I get around to debadging my tailgate, you can have mine. Keep looking in the meantime, but I'll let you know whenever I do.

I'm thinking of putting the TRD decal shown on the left of the photo to cover this spot

Dude it's not going to just wax out. You have to keep hitting it with goo gone, over and over until it comes out. Then you wax. I'd go easy on the rubbing compound also.

It's just dirt and adhesive. It's not in the clear or the paint. It's on top of it. Keep working it.

Did it with rubbing compound not wax. The rubbing compound got it off a little more than the photo above and then I waxed over to clean it up a little. It seems to be the clear coat not the residue

Mine was like that too. Still see the outline, even though it is smooth to touch

Borrow some NON-ACETONE nail polish remover from you Lady. But test it first in an inconspicuous spot.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
put more goo gone, and when you do, get it wet with GG. Keep it in the shade, and don't let it dry. Keep adding more GG for about 20 min, keeping it wet, while not letting any drips happen.

then use some elbow grease with a CLEAN microfiber cloth.

you may need to do this several times.

it will eventually come off. after done, then use rubbing compound, then wash and was (sealant).
