Just got a new to me 2014 Tacoma Limited

My name is Geoff from Canada. Been cruising around looking at the forum. Looking for solutions and hacks to make my Tacoma more user friendly for the jobs I need it for.

As my handle states. I'm into Working dogs specifically Belgian Malinois that compete in the technically difficult European dog sport 'French Ringsport' which is a multi faceted protection "biting" sport that is used as a breeding specific test for SAR, police and military dogs. I also contract for security doing contraband search, patrol and protection for private individuals and businesses using my animals for these purposes.

My Tacoma just replaced a 2001 Toy Sienna that had 360,000+ KM on it while the Sienna was a tank I expect the same type of longevity from my Tacoma. I'm hoping to have this vehicle for a minimum of 10-12 years.

My Tacoma came with a Leer Legend cap the dealer is installing a slider window in it for me for more ventilation for the dogs while traveling. Though I'm not 100% sure this setup will fit the needs.

I've installed the dog boxes and now am having issues getting access to all the box. Without installing a bed slide. I went to the local Leer dealer to see if we could retrofit win-doors in the cap as that would be awesome to access the whole box without having to be an acrobat. But this cap the angle of it, it isn't possible according to Leer.


So I may now be looking to sell this cap and just do a new cap with the specifications that I need.

I'm also looking for solutions for heat and cooling into the box under the cap. I've looked at the 400 watt 'always on' inverter hack and as well as a 12V outlet with a isolated Optima or other type of marine battery to run another sine wave inverter.
