I've done a search for the exact title of my thread can only got one result, and didn't give a whole lot of info. Research I've done online shows washing a car/truck with plastidip has no effect on the parts that are dipped. But I want advice/opinions from everyday people and not "dip your car". I just did my front emblem today and plan on doing my tacoma and SR5 badges tomorrow along with the chrome surrounding the grill (I plan to remove the V6 and 4x4 badge on the back). Just looking to see if there were any ill side effects of washing or scrubbing bugs/tar off. I know that over time it will succumb to the elements, but I like the idea of a temporary/permanent paint.

This is all I've done so far.

Your more likely to get rock chips in the front before it peels off from washing

How many coats were applied? If you applied 4-6 coats, then you'll be fine with the scrubbing. Just don't get too aggressive.

I had all chrome on my camry dipped and that was the only problem, the front takes way more abuse than the emblems on the side or back. Which is why all those TRD grills which are dipped make me cringe cause that is gonna be a bitch to peel and redo later

Also helps if you use an alcohol scrub pad to prep the emblems so there 100% clean when you dip them

You don't have to peel it. I used plastidip remover on my chrome surround/black insert grille and it worked like a charm. Spray a coat of remover, let it sit for 10-15 mins, spray another coat, let it sit, and finally pressure wash it. If it doesn't all come off, repeat the process one more time. Like magic!

I did 6-7 coats, till it had the consistency I was looking for. I know that rocks would probably be the biggest factor in it lasting. Seeing as I live on the beach I'm hoping that minimizes the effects. Most of what I deal with is bugs from the marsh and tar from constant repaving the roads. I plan on keeping the stock grill, I honestly prefer the SR5 grill over any of the TRD grills.
