3rd brake light part #?

Anybody have a part number/price on a TRD OFF-Road 3rd brake light?

What sparked this was the other night looking for something in my bed. Turned the rear cab lights on and was disappointment with the output(just like every other damn bulb on this truck). My iPhone has a better light!
So got me thinking... crack one open and see if I can squeeze in some Super bright white Cree's on either sides. While I'm at it, might as well upgrade all the red brake light leds, maybe do a pulse module...

Do it!!!!! CREE's are going to need a driver and some heat sinking. I'm sure you know that already. It's going to be blinding with that lens though, unless you mod that also with a diffuser or an optic for more directional light.

Most definitely. Good news is the 3rd brake is completely sealed off from the outside, and IIRC there is an ample amount of room up in the headliner pocket.
An XM-L2 on each side with centered Red LED brake board would be SWEEET.
Goal is to get some better light without mounting some rearward facing square pods on the bed. Stealth, Clean, and BRIGHT.

 

Do a write up, I would like to see what you come up with too.

 

I just wonder about the heat emitted by the CREE. The Clear housing is just plastic. Worst case it melt, Best case it will just haze.
Possibly a 1 piece Board with RED/WHITE SMD's across the whole thing. I'm more interested in a Flood pattern for the bed lights rather than a Spot.

So there are 2 different part numbers for 2016+ 3rd brake light.
-Access cab
-Double cab

I was hoping I could swap to the Red lens which mounted via 2 screws form the outside(so I wont have to pull the head liner down every time I want to mess with it) ...but after looking at both it seems like they are different shapes. Has anyone tried to swap?

 

No. I have not, although there are a few out there with leds.

^ I'd gladly swap you in a second if it would fit. I love the red tinted lens on the SR's. Unfortunately, I think they are slightly different overall dimensions. Not to mention these use a nut on the backside, where as the SR has screws from outside.
