I wish. I haven't been since jump school. It is actually very relaxing.

Looks like a ton of fun. A coworker of mine is pretty involved with skydiving. One of these days, I'm gonna do it.

Normally, if it's something I'm not interested in or whatever, I'll just say "oh cool look a [insert hobby] thread. Let's see what's in here." And move on. But I'm gonna have to give a swift "hell to the naw naw" on this one. Lol

@lodi781 how harsh are the landings? I'm sure there are alot of variables, but in general are how are they?

Rounds can give a pretty harsh landing if the wind pushes you around. Though it is funny when guys will jump out of the plane but start freaking out when stuck in a tree.
For me, sky diving will have to be the indoor variety. Definitely don't need more back damage.

@windsor more back damage is def. not good. That's why I asked. I've been put back together a bunch of times. I had to give up more then few hobbies already.

Sport jumpers don't jump rounds. We jump ram air parachutes. It's the equivalent of flying a wing. The landings are akin to stepping off a curb. I went through AFF ( jump school) with ( unbeknownst to me) a slightly herniated L-5 no compressions. I was fine. My back never hurt once. I ate shit on some landing a few times and tumbled when I was first learning, but its not the hard landings you see in the movies from rounds.

I managed to squeeze out 40 jumps earlier this summer before busting myself up and needing surgery.... my incident was NOT skydive related of course! Hope to be back in the air mid-end of October! Gets pretty cold at altitude up here in Canada in the fall and with the recent reconstruction i will probably only hop n pop a few times before winter shuts us down. My new rig is just sitting and taunting me!!

Sorry to hear, hope you mend fast. I'm waiting on surgery for my L-5. Nothing serious but it needs some trimming. I actually lent my rig to a friend because i couldn't stand looking at it and not jumping it. Blue Skies brother!
