The Settlement Agreement defines class members as follows:

    The proposed Final Order states:

The Preliminary Approval Order was approved on December 2, 2016.

The Long Form Notice to class members states:

If the person you spoke with was correct then something must have changed--otherwise they were not completely familiar with the terms of the agreement.

One other condition I have found, to be eligible for reimbursement for a frame replacement you paid for you must have paid for the replacement prior to January 3, 2017.

From the Long Form Notice to class members:

Well then you are on your own now. If you don't fluid film, rust check, or some for of rust proofing to this frame then you're asking for it to rust. A new frame and rust proofing done properly should last decades.

I have finally got the frame replaced after waiting 10 months.

    The BAD:
Neither Toyota Corporate or the dealership could not give me an update where the frame was ( no tracking info ).
The service manager stopped responding to my emails and voicemails.

    THE GOOD:
The frame replacement only took 3 days and some extras where thrown in since I called monthly for an update.
The tech did a great job, truck rides great.

Included the parts list in case anyone is interested ( same as others ).

Curious if anyone has had this done @ Burlington Toyota.

    Cheers.

So I bought my 02 Tacoma on December 3rd 2016, is that literally 1 day too late?

The "Vehicle Manufactured and shipped to original dealer: on 4/1/02.
    First owner reported/titled on 4/26

Truck was originally sold in CA and and owner purchased vehicle on 1/04 in CO where it remained until I bought it on December 3rd 2016

Doesn't matter as only 2005 through 2010 Tacomas are covered by the Brian Warner, et al... class action suit.

I got under the truck when I bought it and while it had rust, nothing was rusted though, etc....

That said, started having nightmares after reading this thread to got back under the truck tonight and gave it a good once over and it appears to be "ok" . It certainly has some rust but nothing like some of the pics I have seen. My guess is the fact it was in CO helped since they use mag chloride on the roads, not salt.

I need to get some Fluid Film and go to town.

Magnesium chloride is a "salt" and is only marginally less corrosive than calcium or sodium chloride--so don't bet too much on that. If you plan on keeping the truck for some time I would suggest investigating treatments that can be applied and re-applied periodically as needed...

Colorado is a dryer state also, not as much humidity as more eastern states. That frame could use some love now to prolong it.

I think that more important then what flavour of salt they use on the roads. Also regular, often daily, freeze/thaw cycles as we had on Cape Cod exacerbate vehicle corrosion; colder locations that have fewer such cycles (the rust reaction is greatly slowed when the water/salt solution is frozen) are kinder to frames, bodies, etc...

Also, CO uses a type of CRC in the mag chloride, and even then the mix is not used state-wide or in areas of extreme snowfall or rural/semi-rural areas. Where I live (SW in the San Juans) mag chloride is only used in the summer on certain gravel roads to prevent dust. And yeah it is super dry out here. When it isn't snowing like a mofo.

Yeah Double Deuce if the rest of your frame is like the three photos thou posted you're good, imho. I live in a snow belt in central Ontario where they use a LOT of salt and sand almost everyday during January and February. Even new vehicles here are rusty if you look at them closely. I figure after ten years if there's anything left to sell I'll do it and buy a new one. I try all the usual things rust proofing, regular washing, etc but it is what it is up here. Your vehicle looks pretty pristine for a 2002!!

I didn't realize that was a 2002! if thats the worse it looks after 15 years without any undercoating treatment i'd say you are good for many year to come if you hit it with even POR15 as the rust is very minimal and basically aesthetic

I spent quite a bit of time under it last night and it really is in good shape for the age. Those pics were the worst spots. I plan on keeping this truck for quite some time as has just over 80,000 miles so this weekend the frame will be treated to a much needed coating to stop/slow what rust is there. South Dakota will probably be a bit harsher on it than it had for its first 15 years.
