Hello all, the Real Moondog here! I am a certified TW newbie and look forward to getting to know everyone. Old (if you consider 40 something old) Navy veteran here with a picture of my latest Tacoma. I got this new 2017 Quicksand Off-Road last month and am loving it. No issues at all the first 1000 miles and hope I don't have any. I have only added an OEM bed mat so far but do plan to add a beefier tire, maybe Duratracs because I don't know of any other c rated LT tire and don't need anything more than a c rated tire. I am also considering a softopper in Tan and wonder how it would look on the Quicksand?

Thanks brother! Yeah, I would really like to see some pics. I think the black is a good contrast but wonder how the tan would look. This third gen has been nice and it is light years quieter than my second gen. I loved them both but this one has me hooked. I'm not sure I've ever washed a truck this much! The only down side is my wife is making me wash her Yukon XL every time I wash mine so I'm sure I'll kill over soon from exhaustion...

I just put on the Bestop Supertop on my silver sky longbed. They are superior in quality and affordable. Jeep Wrangler OEM supplier. Only thing is they only offered in black for Tacoma. Not having the Softoper I can't really say about their fitment. I can upload some pics later.

Luckily for me mine is just as picky as me but she is great at getting me to do it all anyway. Dang, maybe I should have said unluckily.... Thanks for the pics - I didn't think the colors would be off so much. You are probably right - the black may look better. Now I need to search through some posts about tires. I know there is a lot here but I'm not sure we have a lot of choices for the 265/75/16 unless I go beyond a c rated tire. Thanks again - I think this forum will be great. I've been following it for a while so figured I would jump in on some of the fun and learning.

Pics please of the Bestop! I am not familiar with them but am open to it if it's a good product. Is it relatively easy to remove? The black may look ok on mine.

If you're picky about colors. I say go with hard top camper. They have more flavors than ice cream for Tacoma.

Very easy to remove. Put it up is another story.
Although if you're lazy like me. Just remove the holding clamps and take it off in one assembled piece. Onl 30lbs

Sorry, xola3que, I was responding to Rob on that one and your post came in! Tan or black would work and I really want something soft and quick and easy to remove. Nah, was talking about my wife being picky about washing cars! Picky with me doing it of course...

Easy take down. Easy to put up, if it's hot out. You'll struggle if it's less than 70 degrees out. Fabric shrinks up in the cold and makes it miserable to work with.

OK, I really had no plans to mod my truck much until I got on this forum! Dang, that truck looks nice my friend. Really nice. I also appreciate the feedback. It is good to see the black one on the Quicksand too. I would still like to see how the tan looks before I decide but it is nice to know the black looks this good.

I suggest you delete your account now if you don't want to spend copious amounts of money on your truck. I know this first hand. I said the same things.

I have never seen a tan topper, I was looking at possibly getting a tan but I couldn't find any pics so I just went with the black. I really like it.

Also, pro tip - use the "quote" button on the bottom of people's posts, makes it easier to know who you're talking to

Thanks, man! Newbie shining through here, eh? Yeah, I'm likely already screwed once my wife figures out I spent all this money on another Tacoma and the real spending is about to begin... Dang...

I don't even know how people spend nearly 40k on the Taco and still have enough disposable income to hack into their brand new truck two weeks in. I can't even afford porns anymore. Either everyone is loaded, living with their Moms so they don't pay mortgage or selling somethings iono but that's none of my business.

I hear ya! I had no plans to do much to mine except upgraded tires. Then I saw TW and all these trucks with so many cool ideas. :) I have always preferred a more stock look but must admit that I like the Pro grille and think the OR should at least have the option for more aggressive tires such as a Duratrac. I added an OEM bed mat and am really glad I did because that bed is slippery. I will do subtle things like add the door sill protectors and maybe tailgate letters.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I have always liked the standard OR wheels. I even don't mind the grille but am curious about the Pro grille and how it would look but I don't want to be a TRD Pro wannabe. Had I wanted a Pro I would have bought one but I like the long bed and the OR is offered in the long bed this gen so I couldn't be happier. I do really like the softopper and bestop but want to see one in tan before I buy.

I don't think putting on a soft topper nearly qualifies as "hacking in to their brand new truck"

I didn't like the stock silver on the wheels. I painted them black and have no complaints. Everyone always likes them blacked out too.
