Avoid them. They mount aft of the axle, causing undue stress on the springs. Also the bags are about 1/3 the size of the Firestones, and the mounting hardware is flimsy in comparison. Not worth the savings IMO.

Lots of great information here. I just joined this forum and have already learned a lot.
I have a question concerning the Ride Rite air bags and the leaf spring recall. I have a 2008 Tacoma with air bags. Does anyone know if the new leaf springs from the dealer will lift the inside of the air bag bracket so that it no longer makes contact with the axle? Made an appointment to get the leaf springs installed and thought this might be an issue.
    Thanks

I just sat here for a couple hours and read this entire thread. Purchased the Daystar cups and Firestone ride rite airbags setup and am excited for the install. Luckily I have scrap metal laying around so gabbing up some extensions should be doable. I really have no need to lift my 15 TRD OR other than maybe the next size tires up. But we will see what the future holds. Modifications for a purpose is what I'm all about. Thanks to all for the great info!

@moe2o4 Do you have an update on the bags with the Dakars now that you have been running them for a while? Have you had any issues?

Nope no issues at all, love the setup, I have had them on the truck for about 7 months and run the bags at 8lbs when the truck is empty!

Thanks for the info! Even with the Dakars my rear end sags a little too much while pulling my camper. Been trying to decide between Ride Rites with Daystar or D29xl add a leaf with Sumo springs.

So there's no confusion, that post quotes the installation post, which instructs on the modification of the longer leg. The picture is merely to inform of the consequences of not installing the longer leg. Pull up that quote for full instructions with pictures.

Having made the install some time ago, I can report now that I run 8 lbs normally, and if loaded, pump it up to level the truck. I carry a Viair 70 for that purpose.

Those of you running the day star cradles, do your bags smack on speed bumps?

Ive found that after about a month mine drop from 6psi down to 2-3 and whenever i hit a bump i get bang from the bottom of the bag hitting the cradles.

Don't have that issue but I'm always checking the pressure at least once a week cause your not supposed to have under 5lbs in them at all times!

I've had no issues with pressure loss and no noticeable speed bump issues.

Check your connections. You should have next to no loss of pressure. As for your other question, didn't your gym teacher have any advice on what to wear under your shorts? :D

My setup is OME Dakars, 1" block, +2" Bilstein shocks, Firestone air bags with Daystar cradles. I also have air compressor and tank under the bed with an air ride manual paddle control up front. I'm carry 10 gallons of fuel, tool box and full size 285/75/16 spare in bed. I also have a full size jack in the cab. I run 10 lbs when Im working Monday-Friday on the highway and it's smooth with no prerunner lean. When I have 4 people in the car and an extra 100 lbs or so of camping gear I run 40 lbs or so offroading. The setup has been working great and the truck is functional. I still need to install my extended brake lines but aside from that I love the setup.

I would love to see these exact pictures (OME 3" lift with Dakars) but with a Toytec U-Bolt Flip Kit. Someone had the flip kit a ways back, but I don't think they were the Dakars...

I'd love to run a flip kit but I don't think you can with the air bag mounts.....

Question on the extension length needed. If my truck is stock, w/the 4 leaf pack from Toyota and I intend on running the Daystars w/the Riderites what length extension is needed? I see the go from 2" upwards. I'd like to get them ahead of time to cut down if needed and drill them off the truck rather than in place.

My taco is a 2015 Pro version if that matters.
