Not being a wise ass, but this actually worked for me on my wife's car. I put it on the pulleys and a liberal amount on the belt, then started it up and ran a hose with low pressure on the belt. It foamed up and screamed like something from outer space for about 30 seconds or so, then abruptly quit. Whatever glaze or crud that was on the pulleys came off and the pulleys were spotless. It hasn't squeaked since.

I kinda tried that in a sense,, using a soap and water sprayer with that in it.. I would spray and spray and spray.. and hose.. and also get a small cloth and let the belt run on it...(dangerous).

Yes, that could get real hairy. I made sure I kept my hands way outta there. The undiluted dawn worked though

You've done all of the work listed above and you don't have a torque wrench?

Just curious, how much money have you spent this far on the multiple belts and aftermarket parts on this project?

I haven't read all the pages ... have you checked that the tensioner is working properly? That it is providing the proper tension? Loose tension will cause the belt to slip on one or more pulleys, causing squealing.

Don't even know at this point. Next part getting replaced is the water pump. I don't have a torque wrench big enough for this particular instance. Ive used them in the past working on stuff mostly at my dads. Yes I could go borrow his, but its 2 hours away. Yes there are lots of tools I need or would like to have but don't. Ill use one from our garage at work to check it maybe sometime in the next week if possible.

I had the same problem...I removed the belt,I cleaned every single pulley with a toothbrush and brake clean. I installed the New Continental belt formally gatorback belt. No more squeak------->http://www.ebay.com/itm/222279090429?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

These belts are lighter weight and more flexible,My last gatorback belt lasted 8 years------->http://www.thequietbelt.com/#the-art-of-silence

I also use nothing but OEM Toyota idler pulleys and Tensioner with Koyo bearings

    Correct Torque specs:
    Idler pulley #1 - 40 ft. pounds
Idler pulley #2 Their are two of them 29 ft. pounds
    Tensioner pulley 39 Ft. Pounds
    Serpentine Belt Continental Elite #4070834

nothing yet.. still squeakin, but I did discover that Baby Powder hushes em up real good. Lasts close to a week, before it returns. It has a gatorback on it now.. squeaks the same. Next thing to replace is the water pump. I have it, just hadn't had a good opportunity to tear into it yet.

Are you using aftermarket idler pulleys? I had squeaks using them. I went back to all oem toyota koyo bearings and pulleys. The aftermarket stuff is slightly different in specs/size

No, idlers are all stock currently, other than the one on the new tensioner, its a gates brand, But I had threw some on once and that didn't help, so I took em back.. Even had a OEM one, didn't help.. Took it back. The squeal comes from the ribbed side of the belt only. Hoping it'll go away with a new water pump. All pulleys look fine and spin freely. No wobble.. Its all just kinda weird. I honestly think its just a weird anomaly. was talking to a neighbor down the road the other day, he swears it the water pump. He had one on a chevy do something similar before. He replaced every pulley, even the fan pulley, every accessory, went through 8 or 9 belts. Everything spun freely, had no leaks, no signs of anything anywhere being bad. Finally replaced the pump just because.. And it stopped. So who knows at this point. Ill do it when I get time

Has a mechanic used a stethoscope to try and isolate the guilty pulley? They are not expensive - under $20.

If the baby powder is stopping the squealing, it points to a damaged and/or misaligned pulley. I don't see how changing the water pump is going to help since the baby powder does not get into the wp bearing. A bad bearing could cause misalignment, but you said you have already checked for that. I hope you figure it out.

Not sure about current, but a friend of mine had an 80's Ford LTD that the pump bearing let go in..the pulley was loose as a goose.

Ok, Last thing ive done was use baby powder on the belt, recommended by a neighbor. Had to re powder a handful of times after I wash it or drive in a rain a bunch.. But. As its gotten warmer, ive had to do less and less. I still have the water pump, but haven't changed it yet. Any real idea why warmer temps would have such a drastic affect on this? Before in cold weather, it would get worse and worse the farther I drove, until I soap it or powder it or something. Now when it does make a racket, it seems to quiet down after driving a while. I haven't powdered it in a few weeks I reckon. But no issues yet.

Have you use a stethoscope to find the noise? Harbor Frieght has them for $7
