OP, With your lunar mist, what might look really cool is a progressive color scheme on the stripes. Like from a lighter charcoal or carbon color to a darker one. Like the brown that is on the older Hilux that was posted earlier. That would look very cool, of course in my opinion.

That would work for sure or even light to black.

Man, I like that truck. Those fenders prob were a pain about rust but it sure looks good.

I thought that too, my only concern is exactly what shade the lightest color would be, I think it would look weird if one of them blends in with my paint color, lol.
And also placement, since the old pick-ups had more box shaped fenders.
I'm sure I could make it work, just might have to trim the decals a bit.
I have new badges on it too, gonna try to avoid running into them.
Hell, I may even just make my own very similar to this style, so I can do my own color choices and make it a little bit more personalized.
Just need some adhesive vinyl, transfer tape, and alot of patience with an exacto knife

It's prob. more cost effective and would look better to paint them on if they don't make an exact set for a Tacoma size truck.

Awesome! I'm glad you thought of this style too. I hope you can get it to work, I'll bet it looks really good and very unique. The stripes could all be shades darker than your lunar mist(I have same color). How many shades would you need to complete the decal? 4?

I just had it repainted, paint is a no-go.
Got a quote from a guy to make them in solid black instead, it would be around $200 for the hood, sides, and tailgate.
I think I'll stick with that instead, I like knowing that I can just peel it off later if it starts to come off and crack or if I decide I don't like it later.

I guess I could have as many or as few as I wanted technically, I think I'm gonna go with the solid black, it's cheaper that way.
And just me personally, I think it would look cool in a solid color.
The fade to a different shade(s) would make it look more retro, but maybe this would be a nice compromise for what I'm going for, with the modern meets retro thing, lol

I see your point. As long as you get them cut to fit. I bet the original kits would fall short everywhere and put the blocks in poor places.
Mock them up or make them long enough to trim.

I'm gonna take measurements along with pictures with the measuring tape at different angles on it to send to the custom decal dude so I can get them to line up the best way possible.
    I'm pretty excited.
It'll be a couple of weeks before I get on it though, just dumped a bunch of money on new wheels and tires

I might do two black racing stripes up the hood and roof, using leftover Plasti-Dip from blacking out my grill and logos. That way it's removable if it turns out ugly...
