I was hoping to get a little more pep out of my Tacoma. Is it possible to swap in a 4.7l engine/transmission from a tundra into my Tacoma?

if your going to do that.... do a proper swap of at least the 4.6L v8 out of the newer tundra.... or the 5.7....

cus nothing is going to be just plug and play... and the 4.7L is freaking ancient

Easiest and most practical is to sell it and buy a full size with a V8

Not true at all! The 4.7 can be had way cheaper than a supercharger and it uses the same transmission the auto v6 has so it bolts right up.

You have the space in the engine bay, just gotta sort out your motor mounts and some more details. If you do the work yourself way cheaper than a supercharger, better sound and power and no need for premium gas

The 4.6 is also mated to the a750 tranny I believe. The 4.7 has been bulletproof over the years though, take a look at the million mile tundra. It was mated to an a750, even that transmission made it something like 750k before if needed work, I think he lost reverse. It doesn't say so in this article, but I saw or heard somewhere that he had the timing chains replaced by the dealer 3 times.

Do you really think you could swap the engine and tranny for under that? (I know that sounds sarcastic but I'm genuinely asking).

The idea is that you can use your existing tranny.

I thought the Tundra had a 6 speed? Second gen Tacoma uses a 5 speed.

The 4.7 used the a750, same as the Tacoma, FJ, and 4Runner. I'm pretty sure the 4.6 tundra also uses the a750.
Edit: the 4.6 is not mated to the a750

4.6L is just as bulletproof as the 4.7 and it makes a shit ton more power. Also, no timing belt that needs changing etc.
