This may be a stupid question, BUT - does the auto feel much slower, less torque etc.. than the manual? I guess I am white knight, WTF that is...

If the OP wants more throttle response, I'd recommend a CAI. Either TRD or aFe. Wont do anything for horsepower gain but will be a slightly louder engine growl and more throttle response. I'm waiting for the OrangeVirus tune myself.

Not to be a smart ass, but honestly the only current fix is to trade it in for a v8.

Beats 2nd gen in gauntlet tow test by whopping 45 secs, enough time to have 3 beers. It doesn't lack power it's just you are looking for more torque off the line imo.
    No deal breaker really.

    Exactly.

Opening up the intake and exhaust would be to improve high rpm flow, as at low rpm flow is already sufficient.

I think everyone on here is aware that given a long enough stretch with the foot to the floor the 3rd Gen is definitely going to pass with its peak power sky high up in the Rev Band. You are correct that people are seeking Low RPM Torque in these trucks for making a much more pleasurable day to day driving experience. Once again in this video you see a more typical drive that these trucks will see daily and why people feel it is a little underpowered.

Wow 1 truck length in the video it wins by.
Is that what this is about ?

1/4 mile time 3rd gen beats second by a bit.
In that video the 3rd would have passed it in a few more seconds.
Towing 3rd gen leaves it in the dust. Period, bottom line, no discussion. And like the 2nd gen wasn't foot to the floor in the test ? Come on.

Exactly, over an 8 minute test with the pedal to the floor and engines screaming it wins hands down. In everyday stop light to stop light it feels underpowered and needs more low end grunt. I personally think if it did have more low end you would not hear half as many auto trans complaints.

I think some of their videos are entertaining to watch, but lots of those videos i take with a grain of salt.

There are just so many variables that go into it. I know the 1 video when they drag raced the tacoma, ridgeline and frontier, one of the trucks was like empty on fuel. I think roman mentioned it before he drove, not sure how he didn't think that was a factor. That could be a pretty big difference when the others are full.

    all tore up already
Worlds differwnce. Only test drove auto and almost gave up. Then had an auto loaner one time. Stopped to double check all cylinders were infact there. The auto did make me speed everywhere always shifting up so when im used to cruising around 2k rpm, the truck would always shift up
