    What's the consensus on fuel injectors. Camelback has them for 130 each (or is this a set of 6?) and eBay seems to have a set of 6 OEM for less than $100... Are dealers just that high on them or is it a OEM "spec" type of thing?

    @Misplaced Nebraskan and @Fernando

    None of the stuff for our engines and drivetrains have any requirement to be made by Toyota anymore. An automaker only needs to manufacture parts for 10 years after the vehicle was made. The last 1st gen rolled off the line in 04 and the last 3rd gen runner was off the line in 02 and the last 1st gen Tundy was off the line in 06 so it's past the 10 year rule for the 5VZ on all supported platforms. I'd imagine genuine parts that aren't common replacements like spark plug wires and injectors are getting to be slim pickins. Hence the high dealer pricing. :/

    Good info. Thanks. Guess I'll just look for good brands and known sellers and give 'em a go.

    Okay maybe I'm overlooking something very obvious, but:

    The single DIN stock Toyota brand radio out of my '98 had a CD button (alongside the AM/FM & TAPE buttons). Now this radio clearly did not have a CD player, only a tape deck. Was there a add-on CD player that I don't know about? I know the double DIN radios had CD players.

    Am I crazy or does CD stand for something else besides compact disc? I long removed and replaced the radio but when I had it installed pressing the CD button did absolutely nothing.

    The radio is a generic part that was put in tons of Toyotas, Tacoma or otherwise, so in some others there was probably a changer you could get for the trunk or glove compartment.

    Huh I answered my own question by googling "'98 Tacoma Radio". Apparently the Toyota CD player & changer was a very rare addition. I have never seen a factory installed Toyota manufactured CD module before. It was an independent module that goes where the pocket would go.

    Here's an eBay auction for one, looks like the were more common in 4Runners and Siennas. I've only ever seen the single din radio with the pocket underneath, or the double din.

    Probably a better deal, unless you need to hold 6CDs... looks like it has the same cable

    Ordered a pack of 6 injectors off eBay earlier. Get to tear it apart next week again...

    Not sure if was already mentioned or if you already knew or if you can afford a few days down time with your taco, but there are a few companies that will rebuild your OEM injectors. Send them in and it's usually a 24 hour turn around too. Keep your OEM quality and then rebuilt by a specialty shop. Just a thought.
