Mostly a local item but we use Lazzari here in SF Bay Area for our grilling and yearly pig roast. They are located in Brisbane and you can buy direct from them at a big discount over OSH, Lowes, Home Depot or other retail spots you find them in CA. Makes a little more flaky ash than Kingsford but works great for our Pizza Stone on the grill ( Kettle Pizza insert for Webber). Usually use a combo of Kingsford and the Lazzari when making pizzas. Kingsford is stable and lower temp, Lazzari hardwood for the flavor and higher temp needed for the pizza oven.

I think the Lowe's deal comes with a free can of light fluid as well. May be a good deal if you need that as well

In my A.D.D. quest of the perfect bbq I'm always looking for something new and better. The Royal and Primo are my stables. Primo lump is made by Royal. It's all premium chunks. No dust or fall through thr grate pieces. The Wicked and Lazare I'll mainly use for grilling. That stuff is super dense and burns really hot. It's not that stable for low and slow. Smells amazing and is perfect for steaks, burgers, spatchcock, roasted veggies, and especially the Wok and brazing. About anything that is quick and under 3hrs. Just need a flame thrower to get it started. I highly recommended it.

My wife laughs at me every time I start the grill ( Coals in a chimney starter) with my map gas torch.

OH yay verily and The MAN did say unto them in need of flame who growing hungry by the minute yearned for charred game.

"Proceed forth not with flint or tinder. Present thy torch and let'er burn!"

    ...and there was much rejoicing.

Gordon Food Lump isn't bad. Price is right and there's not as much dust.

I add a few chunks of apple or hickory chunk wood in the charcoal chimney starter with Kingsford charcoal. By the time the wood has caught fire and stopped smoking, the coals are orange and gray. Adds a nice wood flavor to the meat without any bitter wood smoke.

Kingsford and other "briquette" charcoal use binders to make the pieces... Try some lump and you will taste the difference. It is the difference between match light and non. You won't ever go back.
