i find the nannies an unintuitive nuisance. the thing that will always make sense to me is my control of the natural forces. nannies like that don't fit the picture and i find them unpredictable as a result. i always turn everything off during normal driving except for VSC... default setting.

but I'm also that guy that won't even buy AT, hybrid, or electric vehicles... I'm actually surprised i even bought a new one this time. it's probably the last new vehicle I'll ever buy due to all the tech in the drivetrain. i just hate it. now waiting for the OV tune to clean up the ECU behavior... one step closer to reality.

In my day, knowing how to drive a stick meant you knew how to tackle starting off on a hill on your own. Damn whippersnapper. :)

True but it becomes trickier when your truck is attempting and failing to assist you. Or assisting you when not needed. My 5th manual vehicle and only my previous 328i had hill start assist but it was predictable. My taco isnt.

Is it that much of an issue for most people? I think I'd rather save money but not having that feature. I live in NH with tons of elevation change. The gen 3 first gear and clutch is incredibly user friendly compared to my old 06mt.

And the handbrake comments are spot on. That's was one of the smaller factors of me pulling the trigger on coming back to MT. Helps at the boat launches a bit.

exactly why i made my post above.

remove the useless nanny and there's no unpredictability. but i'm probably oversimplifying things somewhat..
