I started installing a daystart 1in body mount kit last weekend and found that my driver side floor pan is in pretty rough shape. Passenger side looks like new so i guess no one ever sat on that side. Anyway im assuming the easiest way of going about this is to get a cut out from another truck to weld in? here are some pics of the driver side.

get the area down to bare metal and fiberglass the floor. thats my preferred method if floor isnt completely gone.

That looks like my old Land Rover. I went cheap and just cleaned up the rust and riveted some sheet metal (from an old washing machine) onto the good metal. Now if you have the tools and ability to fix it the right way do it the right way, but if not it can get expensive if you have to take it to a body shop. On a side note, top of the frame looks good, so you got that going for you.

Are there any threads of people fixing floor issues like this? i have been looking but didnt have much luck.

I was going to have my buddy look at it, he does restorations on old muscle cars and did my rocker panels on my truck. I just wasn't sure if i should get a panel cut from someone else truck, fiberglass, or just let him fab some metal. We haven't dug into the floor to see how much is rotted away yet because i need to be able to drive the truck to his shop a hour north of me next Tuesday.

I bought the truck last august and I have been trying to make sure its solid for many years to come. Its a 95.5 SR5 V6 5 speed with 148k miles. I had to have 2 small spots patched on the frame and i painted the whole frame with por15. I already had my buddy redo my rocker panels. For the most part the truck is in great shape but being in ohio destroys vehicles. I think after this floor board issue I should be good for a while because the body is in very good shape.

Myself if Fiberglass is a legal repair where you live

That is the way I would go. Speaking with 40 years welding and Fabrication experience

Unless your truck is a show truck and needs to be factory original .

Then if you get winter and rain where you live get rid of the carpet that just holds the water .

One of the first things I removed

Well my truck is at my buddies shop. He made a new floor pan and is currently in the process of finishing up the install. Should have pics in a couple days.

Take it back to solid sheet metal, and weld in a patch with a Mig welder. For a floorboard it doesn't have to be fancy just good. You can make the patch or buy one if you can find one. Take your time welding it so you don't distort the sheet metal. That's totally repairable by a weekend warrior working in your driveway.

Was doing Dynamat and found the same issue sanded to bare metal and primed it with etching primer and bringing it to the fabrication shop to get the really rotted stuff. Looks like it came in through the rotted weather stripping. Anyone had any luck replacing the rubber?

Yeah I had some more rust issues that were not addressed from that patch so I just welded in some new metal. If you have a welder, you can make quick work of it. A shop will charge you a bit to fabricate a piece for it.
