I currently have a set if Tred Pro's. They stack awesome. Except the TRED Traction Board mounts are $65 each... WTF?
I recently tried to hang them on the underside of my bed bars with carriage bolts. Fail... So how are y'all going about it with hardware out of your local hardware store? And where have you decided to mount them...

Long bolts in T slots on the roof rack, nuts with plastic handles and aluminum bar cut to length and drilled that acts as a clamp on top. It's fairly slow to get them on/off but they are very secure up there.

    Same here

    Looking forward to it

I had a similar set up but they didn't seem sturdy just attached through the center punch of the traction board. Post pic

Right angle aluminum with the maxtrax mounts:IMG_6774.jpg

You could use the same design (provided you have a roof rack) with long bolts, wide washers and some wing nuts.

For mounting them to the bed rails, I would do this:

    https://www.zoro.com/te-co-t-nut-black-oxide-38-16-916-41406/i/G1777921/?q=G1777921

Get some Steel and fab a bracket similar to this

That looks solid. I was also thinking about drilling through the bed from the rear wheelwell. Putting threaded bolts through there and then mounting. They would sit outside and just below quick fist rail mounts for the shovel.

They should be easy to deploy and put back when you need them so mounting on the underside of my bed bars I think is now out of the question

4 1/2" washers (2 dremelled to fit over carriage bolts) 2 regular stainless steel washers for support on inner side of bed
    2 3x1/2" carriage bolts
    2 wing nuts
    2 1/2" lock nuts
    $17-

I guess it's the cheapest way to hang. The bolts are super sturdy.

I drilled through the composite Tacoma bed. Really wanted to utilize the bed rail also as most guys are doing. I figured worst case if I had to I could always fiberglass over the holes in the future if plans were to change. Didn't worry too much about dust proofing the bed because I don't plan on running a cap plus with the drain holes in the bed already figured what is two more in there.

I started off with a T-bar from industrial shelving. Used 2 T-nuts to mount it to the bed rail and placed the tie downs at each end as slide stops and tucked one end of the boards as shown in photo. As shown in a pic, the board rides in the middle slot, and rests on the wheel well. It will be held in place with 2/3 bungee cords but 1 will do for now until I get more of the length I need. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Sounds like we made the exact same thing. The most expensive thing were my handles at almost 5 bucks each from Ace. It cost me about 30 bucks.

They used to be mounted on the inside of the roof of the topper along with a folding camp table. But I needed more space in there.
