MAPS/GPS/APP/BOOK

Hello,

im looking for either a good map book, gps, app for phone or tablet that is loaded and geared toward off road tails in California/ southern California. i really prefer to use tech but i have a minimal budget $150 or so. any help is greatly appreciated.

For IOS I'm a fan of the "Topo Maps" app. $10 and works offline.

 

Try Gaia GPS for iOS.

 

@Sdtrueblue does it actually show off roading trails? it lookins like it only does hiking trails?

Not that i know of. basically uses USGS topo maps. There are other layers that you can use that are not as detailed and overwhelming as well. I like that you can set up routes on the computer and it syncs to the device automatically.

 

It does show trails that are on the printed maps, yes. If you load the correct map overlay, theres quite a few off-road trails shown. Not all of them, certainly, but hopefully you can find the one you're looking for. Another good tool is that you can use a computer to load routes and waypoints and it will xfer them to the app for you.
