its not really long travel shocks, just extended travel. gives a bit of extra travel on your midtravel setup. generally you will need upper arms to take advantage of it.
    cant think of any downside.

Pros: More travel up front for off-road adventures.

    Cons: Have to buy UCAs

Extended travel coils with UCAs is referred to as midtravel. Long travel is a whole new ballfield and way more expensive.

To run extended travel coils, no. To run a long travel kit, you'd need a lot more, to include new coils.

Extended travel and long travel is not the same thing. You can run extended travel. They give a couple inches more droop.

    Haha

If you don't plan on preloading the shit out of them and/or don't plan on getting aftermarket upper arms you should stay with the stock travel coilovers.

If you plan on lifting around 3" and/or you plan on getting aftermarket upper arms you should get the extended travel coilovers.

He already has JBA UCA's so he should be fine with getting extended travels up front. Pick your favorite color and order away (I recommend your favorite color being blue).

If you already have the UCAs - there's no reason not to get extended travel, most brands are the same price for standard and extended.

Only con is going to be the same with any coilover - you have to get them rebuilt at some point. So keep your old setup to compensate for the downtime.
