My rear bumper is rusted out. I was going to get one of crothmetal works after market ones. But this was my dads truck and I will be giving it to my daughter in a few months. She wants it left stock just like when my Dad had it. Dents and everything. She said Pa paw had a story for every dent in the truck. She is a sentimental little thing.
Ok now to my question. Are the stock looking bumpers on ebay worth getting? Or will they be rusted out in a year? Where would be the best place to get one? I have been searching but really cant tell the difference other than price. I know one from Toyota would be the best but wow $$$.

you might check craigslist in your area, or a local junkyard especially if it does not need to be perfect.

I have checked local salvage yards. I also have been looking in the for sale forum here. Most don't want to ship.

At the first of this year I ordered from Amazon and installed a new rear bumper. It came with everything needed to mount it. License plate lights, top rubber piece, and the two arms that mount the bumper to the frame. Here is a link to exactly what I bought... I paid $212 for it shipped, and I see that the price is down about $40 now. Don't know why.

I am 100% satisfied with it and I can recommend it. Delivery was included and the bumper arrived about a week after I ordered it. It weighs the same as the stock bumper and the chrome plating is smooth and even; however:

    1. The holes in the arms did not line up exactly with the holes in the frame. I would have had to "egg" them out about 1/2 inch or so to get things to line up, so I just used the original bumper mounting arms and everything turned out excellent.

    2. The rubber part on the top is not Toyota. The material appears to be identical but there is no weight stamping or Toyota stamping on it (and it was 19 years old anyway). I saved my original rubber just in case.

I bought mine off Amazon and the cool part is the factory step pads snapped right on. I was able to sell the aftermarket pads for $50. I would not buy just the bumper with out the rebar I did and I sent it back . Those Torx bolts are not going to budge.

When you mentioned Croth metalworks I thought you lived out here. I was like "there's at least 2 or 3 or CL right now" lol. I'm going to have a rear tube bumper made by him when I get my projects done that come first in priority.

My bad I thought you lived in SoCal where there are 2-3 stock bumpers pretty much at any given time on CL. Between LA and the rest of SoCal it's pretty easy to find that stuff. Amazing how many vehicles 20ish year old can keep running since rust is non-existent.
