I have a smittybilt 9500# wrong with synthetic rope and was using it yesterday to clear a few honeysuckle bushes. Pulled the line out and it won't winch back in. Motor sounds like it's turning, but the reel isn't moving.

Called smittybilt, described the problem. They think it's the brake. Forwarded them a copy of my receipt and they said they would ship a new one. Called tech support today to confirm they had everything they needed from me and was told they don't think they will pull a brake assembly for me, but are considering just sending a whole new unit!!!!

I haven't seen customer service like that in years!!!

That's pretty neat. I wouldn't think shittybuilt would have customer service like that.

Probably cheaper for them to just replace something that cost them like $50 to make. not hating on smitty as I run their 10k winch, but lets be honest that winch cost me like $300.

But nice to know they have decent customer service

Will save me a bunch of hassle too! Especially since I'll already have to pull the bumper and I ran the solenoid wires into my cab. With a new winch, it's unplugged, unbolt, reverse.

Can't complain about smittybilt's customer service (actually Transamerican Auto Parts, they own 4 wheel parts, pro comp, smittybilt, etc). The same thing happened to my xrc 8, and they replaced it no question.
Problem was, I was 10 miles from the nearest FS road in the middle of nowhere when it blew up. That's when I learned that the best customer service, lifetime warranty, etc doesn't do you a lot of good when something breaks at the worst possible time (which it always does).

Smittybuilt has great customer service. That goes a long ways.
